So this is where my 5 year build is currently at. That old phrase "the devil is in the detail" is burnt into my mind...
I was on her 1976 (hence version) and have several photos and memories to help.
It's a Fleetscale hull, but scratch built superstructure, decks, etc.
This is my first ever build and have redone things as my learning curve progressed.
Hopefully pictures appear
Made the liferaft support myself from square brass, along with yards.

Nice work Ray.
Batch One - Gun Leander I assume?
Seeing the Leander always reminds me of the recognition mantra - 'You can meander around a Leander'.

Very nice indeed Ray. I too would be interested in more pics and interior detail as well.

Yep...Andromeda was a batch 3 "wide beam" Leander.

HI Ray any chance of some shots in side her at motors an eletrics ?

I did some time on Scylla - F71, prior to 1980, (gun Leander, wide beam), I believe she was converted to Exocet in the 80's. Then 85 to 88 on F15 - Euryalus, Ikara Leander. (Preferred Tribals from a wafu's perspective)

Yeah, frigate alley in Guz was a crowded place in mid-70s.
Androm was peculier in that she was the only non-Ikara Leander with the type 669 Bexley jammer.
Had to scratchbuild that bit of kit at masthead.
I was a radio tiff..Androm was my sea training year so worked in every department - even lashing down the Wasp...

Ray.

The unmodified Leanders had the best lines of any frigate ....................when they removed the turret & replaced it with Exocet & Seawolf, they may have been more effective, but ruined their looks.

All this talk of floaty things reminded me I have a momento of times long gone; the reverse is scurrilous so no image! It's a great t-shirt and still fits (although SWMBO won't let me out of the house wearing it!)IMG_0634.JPG

Have to disagree there Dave. Tribals, (Type 81’s). Were the best looking frigates of the 60’s - 80’s. Open turrets fore and aft. Combined steam and gas turbines. (COSAG). They could be at sea in no time thanks to the G6 gas turbine. Did time on both Tribals and Leanders, give me a Tribal for looks any day.

Edited bit to show Tribal for comarison.
Tribal Class, (Type 81 Frigate) F133 - HMS Tartar

Fwd Funnel Steam uptake. Aft Funnel, Uptake for Gas Turbine. (G6)

She is very non-confrontational Chris and the back shows a British Bulldog urinating on an Argentinian player ... Poor taste Dahlinks! Freedom is subjective but hospital food is very specific (Uuugh!)
