Taking a break from the crane build decided to build this Italeri Fast Assembly kit. I have a hard time with 1/72 scale kits at one time that’s all I ever build but with age and my arthritis and eye site there are more changing than ever. This is a very detailed kit and a fun build. This is what I have got done so for I will paint when weather permits enjoy the pics. I’ve built a few of these Italeri fast-assembly kits, and they tend to go together well. Details may be simplified, but from a little way away they’re still pretty convincing. Better than Armorfast’s equivalents, certainly.

Pete.
The first thing that I notice was the very realistic track sag. The slight mention of a StuG will bring people out , Steve Rivet Jones should be here soon, unless he's still in the desert.
Looking good ,hope you do the camo version.
John.

Pete .
You are quite able ! But that's up to you, what ever you decided it will look good .

It's been a while since I have seen a Stug III being done. Never seen these quick kits before but it certainly looks okay. Any thoughts on the colour scheme/theatre of operation yet Lee AKA Peter?:smiling5:

Probably go with dessert tan on this one thanks. I read on another post where Mr. Race has a parrot now I thing it’s been pecking him in the head and he’s been talking a lot about Fog lately wonder what is smoking ?

Very neat work Lee. Clear pictures too. Nice one.
A lot of folks knock these fast assembly kits. I've built quite a few and think they're great value, spot on for dioramas and two in a box!

Ron

Not that your probably too concerned about historical accuracy but only seven Stug III's went to North Africa and they were D's and F/8s. Yours looks more like an F. So best to base it in Italy and the desert tan look will go really well. As a matter of interest which division decals have they given you please?

Here is an idea of the look if this helps HERE

Good luck. Looking forward to seeing the wet stuff.:thumb2:

Yours looks more like an F.
These are Ausf. G, produced in 1943 or early 1944 — the F and F/8 didn’t have a commander’s cupola and had vertical sides with wider sponsons, the later 1944 Ausf. G had the loader’s hatches split in left and right instead of front and back. (This going by Sturmgeschütze — Entwicklung und Fertigung der sPak by Walter J. Spielberger, Stuttgart: Motorbuch Verlag, 1997.)

It also looks like the model has the 10.5 cm howitzer barrel fitted, making this a 10.5 cm Sturmhaubitze 42, so a StuH 42 instead of a StuG III.

Okay back with you now Jakko. We have Stug III Ausf F and StuH 42 Ausf F:thumb2:. Also Stug III Ausf G and StuH 42 Ausf G. I suppose the other give away is the light at the front centre of the vehicle.

Sorry to have hijacked your thread Lee but its always a great place to learn something new. Permission to carry on:smiling5::smiling3:

Thanks Ron
These are a fun build with the detail to boot. I was hesitant to post it due to it was a Fast Assembly

Lee.
The first thing that's catches my good eye is that sag :thumb2: nice. How come my friend hasn't suggested a camo. ! I was made to do one.
Going to have a word with Matron.
John.
