Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me which Humbrol no paint I should use to paint a Centurion Mk3 Tank stationed in Germany circa 1951

And also does anyone know where I could buy some 1/35th decals for the above (British Army)

Cheers Rob.....

Howdy Rob,

Welcome to the forum, we are glad ya found us. Feel free to look around, ask questions, give advice and post photos of your work or look at other members galleries.

Now as for what color to paint the tank. am in the states, so i havent had many dealings with humbrol paint, but most of the pictures I have seen of the centurion in google images have shown it green. Someone else will have to recommend which greeen lol.

Now as for decals, I found one set by modelcraft that came with their Mk III kit, you might be able to contact them and order a "replacement" set of decals. the part number for the decals is "Item number #35-9009 ". you can contact modelcraft via email here:

Below is a photo of the decals I found :

However, please note: these markings are for four different Mk.IIIs: a British 8th Hussar Regiment example from the Korean War, a Canadian Army example; an Australian Army Mk.V that served during Vietnam, and an Israeli Defense Force .

And below is the link to the site where i found the decals :

I realize this hasnt been alot of help to you, but, i just couldnt foind anyplace that had the decals in question. However, if you will look about 1/3 of the way down this link, you will find a list of decal manufacturers as well as a ton of other really useful information. you might try browsing through the various manufacturers sites for decals. Have a good day and again, welcome to the forum,

Hi Rob and a warm welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy having a look around and feel free to add your own experiences to the site.

As for your tank, I would have always used Olive Drab for British Armour, which is now in the Matt Humbrol range as Matt 155.

That relates to Gunze Sangyo 304, Testors 1711 and Lifecolor UA003.

Unfortunately it is not available as Humbrol mini Spray or Humbrol Acrylic so you will have to airbrush yourself or brush paint it.

Hi Rob just joined site. re enquiry about Centurions in Germany 1050s, i crewed a centurion during last 2 years in service and they were painted a Gloss Bronze Green at that time, we used brushwood and grass turf to camouflage them when in the field, it made the tanks easy to clean, may have been painted a matt green in last few weeks of service. If you look at the Dinky Centurion its an accurrate colour, also British racing green is colse. Hope this helps you all be it a little late. Regards John Moore ps also crewed Chieftain, Challenger and cvrts
