Welcome to the hobby - we have all been there with our first build and yours is a lot better than my first one!!! You should have seen it!!!! No internet back then so on one hand I was spared putting them on sites like this and on the other hand I did not have the resource of these sites to learn how to do it......

The important question to ask is did you enjoy doing it? I hope so and that you go on and build more kits and as you do you will get better and better. Do not try to get everything right at once, keep it simple and fun. Work at different aspects incrementally..... I suggest building a few small 1:72 scale kits first, they are cheap and experiment with them. Read all the build and tips on this site and you will soon be posting some masterpieces!

Above all else have fun with it.

Absolutely - I've learned absolutely tons by discovering this site about the same time I went "Oh yeah, I used to like doing Airfix kits as a kid - let's have another go".

I'm not sure it's specifically your painting that needs work, actually - it looks more like the paint that's the problem. It's all transparent, looks more like an ink-wash. Taking a wild guess here, but did you use enamel paint and not stir the green?

Still, you've got all the bits in the right places, managed to get the decals on without mangling them and it looks like a Zero, so you can call that one a win.

I concur, I have learnt a lot by using this site and the users on here are very helpful indeed, your Zero as rightly pointed out looks like a Zero and therefore as a 1st attempt you should be proud of the fact. I would invest in some enamels or acrylics to undertake the next project to get away from the transparent look, but that of course depends on your budget.

There are guides to paint on the boxes or inside on the instructions regarding colours and all are available through John who set this site up, your local model store if there is one nearby or the good old internet

Overall a nice build and keep them coming

That's pretty good for a first effort. Are you at the top of a slippery slope? Will you be building some more? I certainly hope so! You'll get lots of help and support from the people here.

Cheers

Steve

It was fun building it, i was actually using model master acrylic dark green pearl, i stirred it using a toothpick before painting, using 2 coats. I thought it turned out alright for my first time. I will build more models in the future.

The lads have covered it all really. Good first model, well done.

So I will just welcome you to this great forum and should you need any help, just ask. There is a great big bundle of knowledge here abouts.

Enjoy your next project, take your time and most importantly, as we always say on here....

Have fun!

Cheers,

Ron

I can only agree with what everyone above has said. The important thing is that you enjoyed the build. So, what next ? Has the bug bitten you ?
