Hi Guys , these miniart boys don`t half make you earn your models , after a lot of cutting , trimming , filling etc I`m slowly getting there , by no means to a high standard but I`m happy with it so far , thought I`d lost it at one stage but managed to get it back , slowly learning that to get a better finnish you build up paint layers/shades gradually, and I`ve only done the easy bit , must say though I`m loving it , Richy.(i would love to post more pictures but am having a nightmare getting the pictures in the right place) View attachment 9895

Thanks Dograt, slowly learning that it can look a lot worse before it starts taking shape , this is the photo where I thought I`d messed up big time , getting my new AB out tomorrow for the 1st time to do the house - should be a laugh but will post efforts no matter how good or bad, wish me luck , Richy.View attachment 9906

Hi Richy, I'm struggling with my Miniart building! It won't fit together like it should-looks all lop-sided! I think I'm gonna just use one side of the kit. Upside is that I'll end up with 2 buildings! Patrick

Looking great. I will have to keep an eye on this as I would love to learn some diorama techniques.

Best Of luckWe want a blow by blow account !!
I'll second that!

What do people make of mini art kits? Worth getting? Seem a fair price if they turn out well.

Cheers

I'm struggling with the Miniart kit that I bought-in fact I've given up with it! Looks to me like Richy's got a better handle on his but my one wouldn't line up on both pieces without lots of filling & sanding. Seeing as how I only got it to save time, it's a bit pointless!

Hi Patrick , don`t give up mate - I`ve not started building the house yet but if the instructions are anything to go by I`m going to be as frustraited as you ( we can suffer together mate ), this photo shows the model having its 1st coat (and the 1st time I`ve used an airbrush , seems ok to use but used quite a bit of paint and thinners 50/50 ratio) , it all has a solid light grey basecoat now , called it a day then as my hangover kicked in after a party the night before and spent the rest of the day on the sofa feeling sorry for myself. Hi Richy this is looking real good i have several of miniart products and i love them the detail in them is amazing but you are correct they do make you work for the completed kit. Keep up the good work and keep posting the pics.

A thought on the Miniart kits-has anyone wondered (like me!) if you could get some plasticine & press the kit into it, thereby creating a mold? Plaster could then be poured into it & voila-a new building front! I guess some kind of agent like wax polish would be needed to help the cured plaster release from the plasticine. Sorry Richy, I'm wandering off the subject of your thread!
