Hi all;

Another instalment in the labour of love/hate project! This is the Academy Spitfire XIVe; it has many inaccuracies, not least of which is the shape of the nose - too fat, too stubby. Add to that the wrong shaped rudder, wrong shaped prop and spinner, wrong radiator housings, wrong cannons - well, you get the idea. I managed to get hold of a hard-to-come-by, out of production, DACO resin correction set that solves many of the difficulties.

Finished as NH915, flown by Flt Lt Derek Rake; this aircraft shot down 41's final victory of the war, a Ju188 on 3 May 1945 - it was also 41's 200th victory of the conflict.

A Hurricane man myself, but that's a superb Spit; love the colours. Derek

Nice build with what sounds like a pretty poor kit, keep racking up them 41,s Andy.

It's still a lovely looking Spit Andy! Great paintwork - I've got the XIVc kit that I'm working on, I didn't know it was so inaccurate :(

The XIVc kit is slightly less inaccurate - the rudder is the right shape!
