Well, I tried to clear this paint job with a rattle can and it totally ruined my paint job. So I sanded it down and started it all over.
Paints can react heavily sometimes, I don't do it enough myself but it helps to spray test-pieces (old plastic cards) to test for any reaction...

I usually do that too with spoons, but I’ve done this clear before and it turned out fine. Like I said, it’s my own fault because usually I put about three light mist coats of clear on the model before I do my last wet coat. But this time I only used two light missed coats and got excited and put the third one on wet without paying attention. Now the body is completely ruined and I have to get another one and start over. Also, I think I’m using the wrong paint remover..
Strange and very annoying when you get a bad paint reaction especially when there was no real reason for it. Sometimes it could be the under paint not fully cured or maybe even very high atmosheric humidity but often it just happens and you just don't know why. Hope the second attempt goes well.
Trying to strip the paint I screwed up the body so bad that I had to order a whole new model just to get the body.
Can anyone tell me the best way to polish tape residue off of the paint?
You could use a polishing compound (or toothpaste if you prefer mint).

I don’t know why I guess it was just my method, but I used the exact same type of paint and clear and this time it all came out great.. I put six dry coats of clear with a drying time of 20 minutes in between each coat before I put two wet coats of clear on. Plus, I waited about an hour between each wet coat.
Apart from all the paint-troubles this turned out really nice well done. You can still make a rustbucket-version with the 2nd kit you bought cheers
