I have decided to set myself a challenge. I am going to attempt to scratch build my favourite car, the Lamborghini Countach.

I have a Ferrari 512 TR (Testarossa) which came with 2 sets of tires for some reason, the spare set will be used for this Countach build as they are very close in size to that if the Lambo. Everything else will be scratch built with plasticard, blood, sweat and tears with a generous amount of cursing.

Its not going to be easy but that's why I'm attempting it.

I will even have to somehow scratch build the alloys.

Go for it Rik, just take you'r time & think about what you are doing & how you are going to do it.

Look forward to the build.

Better man than me, I wouldn't dream of it, all I would say is would it not be better to pick an easier car to start with, Fred flintstones would be good.

Well I chose the countach for 2 very good reasons, 1 - as mentioned before it's my favourite car and 2 - it's actually quite an easy shape to model with very few curves and even fewer compound curves.

I am thinking to also make it radio controlled so won't be building an interior for it.

Well all I can say is good luck, I will definitely be keeping a close eye on this one.

There will be a bit of a delay in getting this one started. I have decided that the plasticard I have at the moment is either to thick (1.5mm) or too thin (0.25mm) so I have ordered some 0.5mm.

I will make the bodywork out of 0,5mm, the underside from 1.5mm for strength and the 0,25mm will be used to make the raised panels to give me some nice looking shut lines.

I also have some clear sheet plastic taken from a broken laptop screen which should be good for the windows and light lenses. I might use some of the diffuser from it to give the  lights a nice even glow.

For the design. I found a 3rd angle projection design drawing of the car (the LP500s version) which when printed out is exactly the right size (to within a half mm) to build it at 1/24th scale.

Sounds good to me Rik, looking forward to seeing it built m8.
