Hi Derek, another lovely model, afraid I've never heard of Rub n Buff is it sprayed or brushed.I checked the price of the Talon products the paint is in 30ml.bottles the powders which are

optional for buffing also 30ml.are priced $5.99. All three work out about £11 plus p&p this

seems very reasonable compared to normal acrylics which are usually about 17ml. & just

under £2,if I bought in uk I would still have postage so I will have to weigh up the difference.

Cheers John.
Hi John, it comes in a 15mL tube which you apply by wiping onto the model with a cloth and then gently buffing off with cotton wool, see link below for the supplier I used. One tube would do a few aircraft, you don't use much.

Have a look at my 'under construction' build of my lightning for more details. I used the Silver Leaf. Good luck and cheers Derek

Hi Derek, thanks for the info but I took the plunge with the Talon paint this afternoon.

I'll have a look at your build, it did look nice and I'll save the link for a possible future

build. I went with Talon as it seemed a very reasonable price, paint 30ml. two lots

of powder plus p&p worked out at £19.53. From their video it ticked all the boxes

time alone will tell. Thanks for taking the time to contact me.Taking a look at your

build now. John

Back again Derek, have looked at all your Lightning pictures, looks great. When I've used

the Talon paint I think I will get some rub n buff and try that for comparison. Hope I'm

able to get somewhere close to your standard. Be in touch somewhere down the line.

Thanks a lot. John

John. I tried a new technique tonight that i found ages ago but never had the time to try out. It doesn't involve an airbrush although you could prime the kit first i suppose. But like with any NMF surface prep is essential. It is messy though so do it in an area that is easy to clean up after yourself. Have a look at these pics on an old matchbox fw190 i tried it on. Took me 5 mins to do this. If you are interested then have a look at this link Eastern Suburbs Scale Modelling Club
