advice needed on type of esc

hi all

got aboat which is fitted with 2x kehrer jet drives matched to 2x 700bb turbo motors

can someone please tell me which esc would be ok for this setup?and can it be run by just 1 esc..

It all depends on what voltage you are running them on, and what version of the motors they are. Without the exact motor data (there are a few different 700BB's) it is difficult to know what you would need. You might have to search around Graupner site to get the info you require. Armed with that knowledge, you could have a good guess at the requirements, plus 50% for a safety factor.

The 700BB I used to run with a single graupner jet drive, used 14.4volts of nicads and a single 20amp speed controller.

So if yours are the same as mine were, you would require a 40 amp (continuous) rated ESC to run both. But as I said, it would be stabbing in the dark.

BTW, I wouldn't recommend running from a gel cell, it will tend to buckle the plates and with something around 3AH nicads, expect around 10 mins run time at most.

need to get the motor run current ' on load'- ie with jet drives in water operating normally, then allow a margin then find an ESC able to handle that current load continuosly

eg 25 amps per motor- 2 x 25 = 50 amps on load, plus safety margin( say 10% ) to allow for weed or debris in jet drive= look for esc able to handle 55 amps.....

your input voltage also plays a part in ESC selection.....
