discussion Airbrush or Brush?

Can someone also explain to me how an airbrush works in terms of adding detail? I've always used a regular brush because it's all I've ever known of, so please, enlighten me on the art of the airbrush

I use both to add detail. Depends what detail I'm adding as to which I use. Exhaust stains and German mottle are great with an airbrush

Or in my case a tool making a bad job.

I use both, plus felt pens, chalks, rattle-cans. As Paul points out depends what you're doing.

There are some great weathering effects you can get with an AB that you can't get with the hairy stick but the real test is with a brush the skill you need to get that even look a build is a skilful thing ,

I'm just touching the surface in brush painting and the builders at my club are mostly brush painters and you'd never tell the difference

I'd say try both and see what's best for you

As has been said Blair depends on what you want to do.

In my opinion the best models I have viewed have been airbrushed. But then there may be some a lot who would dispute that.

Up until now aircraft have been my persuit. The last model I completed a Merlin Helicopter I wandered off into the realms of weathering. I found this to be very difficult but very rewarding as I found that you could use an airbrush in ways that I had not thought possible or perhaps more accurately not realised.

This is my first attempt at weathering so I have some way to go yet to get where I want to be. Also say that the basic finish before weathering was also carried out with an airbrush. But this gives a clue as to what airbrush work can achieve.

As to a poll then that is almost impossible.

Some use only hand brushing.

Most I would say use airbrush but for some probably minor detail work use a hand brush.
