discussion Airfix 1/32 Bond Bug

Bit of a nostalgia build, this one. I remember my father taking me to the motorcycle show in London when I was about nine and they had one of these on a stand that had been completely sectioned down the middle. Anyway, when Airfix announced that they were re-issuing the kit for the first time since it's initial release, I had to go for it and when I saw how few parts were in the box, I started it almost straight away. Quite a quick build for me, only about a month from start to finish. It went together nicely and I'm quite happy with how it turned out although one of the front indicators pinged off my tweezers just as I was about to glue it on and I haven't come across it yet.

As you can see, main paint was Tamiya.

Nice build I have one to but did you notice that there is a mistake when building the steering box they have the drop arm fixed to the front it should be at the side

Thanks Peter. I did spot that the steering would not have worked if construction had been as per the instructions. Not sure if I connected to the correct side though.... mine's on the outside end of the steering box.

That's the right side (the advantage of owning a reliant)

Excellent build Nick.
Your model brought back a few nice memories for me.
In the early '70's I had a Bond three wheeler mini car, it was powered by a Villiers single pot 250cc motorbike engine. I had to lift the bonnet, get my leg into the engine compartment and kick start the thing! 40mph flat out. The engine was mounted onto the front wheel assembly. Turn the wheel and the whole lot turned through 90 degrees. Parking was not a problem!

We were at a car show once when 6 of your type arrived, we had a great time exchanging insults....

That's a great result. Certainly a very quirky vehicle which I wouldn't have wanted to go far in.
