Well here's my first ever 1/72 aircraft!

It was a very nice kit to build, no fit problems other than a small step on a wingroot, which was probably more down to me than the kit!

Here are the pictures, any comments positive or negative are gratefully received.

Very nice Patrick, the color modulation and the chipping are fantastic. I'm pondering exhaust staining for my Mk V at the moment as it can so often look wrong on scale models. Yours though heavier than I think I want on mine looks good and flows nicely over the fuselage. Good work mate.

Thanks guys, I'm very pleased with it even if my eyes are demanding a rest!

Alan & Polux, for the first time I used pencils for the chipping & found they worked pretty well.

Jason, you're quite right, the exhaust staining is rather too pronounced. I went a bit heavy on the airbrush!

Very nice Patrick. Nice understated chipping although as has been said I think the Pilot may have been unhappy with the exhaust heat.

To show my ignorance what do the roundels represent. I realise that an XIX was photo reconnaissance but have not seen roundels like these.

I believe it is Swedish Laurie, as for the exhaust...too rich a mixture

Nice one Patrick, looks really good. This was one of the first of Airfix's 'new-tools', and goes together well as you say. Their later new-tool Spits are even nicer. Great paintwork BTW.

Thank you Monica & Laurie! I should have said it was in Swedish livery, I picked that as it was a bit different to RAF markings. That link was very interesting.

Ha-ha those Swedish meatballs are a rich diet!

I really enjoy seeing Spitfires done in other colors than the RAF. This one has a great color with very distinct panel lines. Love the weathering and chipping. Great build.

Joe, it's the fit at the front causing the problems as per the pics below :

The issues are small, but unnecessary IMHO. The machine gun cowling needed sanding at the rear to fit at all & you can see the engine cowling ring doesn't fit right.

Maybe I've got a Friday afternoon one!
