I did think about that, but they've not sold a Dornier for years and now they've got a New Tool, why would they bother moulding an old one just for this kit! It's the Dornier I really want, the Defiant is just a bonus :) With the New Tool Dornier being £17 (http://www.airfix.com/dornier-do17z-1-72.html) and the cheapest Defiant being £8 (http://www.airfix.com/catalog/product/view/id/8392/) then £22 for the doubles pack sounds about right.

Of course, I am applying common sense and should find out when it arrives, but if it's not the New Tool Dornier I will not be amused - I have reference pics of the sprues so I'll find out quickly enough!
They still sell the old one in hobbycraft by I didn't buy it simply because of the grey box it was in ment it was old tool and it was £12.99 but if you and mike are right I'm getting me one of them :D

Well... This now worries me!!!! I'll post the sprues when it turns up. Upgraded my phone over the Christmas, now 20 megablahblahs so should get better quality pictures out of it now.

But don't mention this one: http://www.airfix.com/spitfire-mkia-and-messerschmitt-bf109e-4-dogfight-doubles-gift-set-1-72.htmlWhich probably means the 1/72 one isn't New Tool...
Both the Spit and 109 in this DD set are new-tool. It's possible Alan bought an old DD in a new-style box, perhaps old stock in the store, from before Airfix re-tooled the 109G, and they've yet to do a new tool Spit V. AFAIK, all of the currently listed Dogfight Doubles include the latest toolings of the aircraft.

I'm not sure this is true. Airfix states that this is New Tool: http://www.airfix.com/supermarine-spitfire-mkvb-messerschmitt-bf109e-dogfight-doubles-gift-set-1-48.htmlBut don't mention this one: http://www.airfix.com/spitfire-mkia-and-messerschmitt-bf109e-4-dogfight-doubles-gift-set-1-72.html

Ah, I was duped by this very box - is that the one with Neville Duke's Spitfire? Says on the back of the box. If so, I attempted that with this build: http://www.scale-models.co.uk/community/threads/under-construction-me-bf109e.28697/

As you can see, it did not go well and I have yet to attempt the Spitfire...

I'm possibly wrong as I can't understand why you would have to order it

Well, I've just caved and bought the Dornier Do17z & Paul Defiant Dogfight Doubles: http://www.airfix.com/catalog/product/view/id/8414/We know the Dornier is a New Tool as it was released barely a month ago, but the re-released Paul Defiant makes no mention of New Tooling so will be interesting to see how this turns out!

I have to say (and I know I'm going to get shot down for this, but saying it anyway!), the Paul Defiant looks a lot like a Hurricane with a turret slapped into the fuselage, and we've see new tooling Hurricane's this year :P
Airfix are producing a new tool Defiant due for release in January according to their own website. I see no reason for them to include the old tool moulds in this DD boxing.

Yeah that's the one

Although I notice on the 2nd January that the page still says it's expected yesterday: http://www.airfix.com/catalog/product/view/id/8414/

Also no e-mails saying it's been posted yet.

Man alive I'm impatient!

Two words on the front of the box from Airfix would stop all this confusion and apprehension """NEW TOOLING"""

The problem with that is after a short time they are no longer 'New Tool'. For example the 'New Tool' 1/72 Red Arrows Hawk was revised and renumbered from A02205 to A02005A. Minor changes were made to the instructions, landing gear and I think the cockpit. The old version would still be considered to be 'New Tool' as in new generation but is not the latest version available.

Ok Joe three words and a few numbers New tool 2014/2015 edition lol:) I have put kits back on the shelf thinking they were old tool to later find out they were new tool I'm happy that I now have a fair old stash ferreted away and won't be buying anything for a while as most of my kits could be classed as retro (ebay and car boot sales) and its more fun trying to polish a pebble into a diamond at times.

You can do that too you know!

Also you've got to watch the new tool tag as well , take the 148 mossie pr xvi, this kit looks like it's an old old kit but with more upto date sprues added to make a different mark on the surface of it it looks like new tool Parts made for this kit but when you put it together you realise that although the parts are more modern they are infact from an old kit so all they have done is mix two kits , one very old and one newer but not what we would call 'new tool'

Now it's 20/01/2015?!?!?! Grr

Now I'll have to get back to the stupid 1:24 scale stupid Spitfire that doesn't stupid fit!!

Big Mumma Grr!!!!!!
