Bought this old kit on eBay and as you will see from my other recent post, I’ve also started a 1/72 Vulcan B. Mk2. The Vulcan is a big kit so I thought 1/72 was going to be a good scale for me to get back into this hobby., but I didn’t realise just how small this kit was going to be. Super tiny. I’m still going to have a crack at it, but guys do many of you still build at 1/72? The photo is of the ME109 wings and the Vulcan for comparison. Obviously I realise the Vulcan is a beast of a size.

Nice project John :thumb2: .
I actually had the exact same feeling a week ago, I have only one Bf109 in 1/72 in my stash and was surprised too how small it was... As a kid all my 1/72 models looked much bigger in those days :smiling5:...
I now focus on 1/48 aircraft.
Have fun,
Steven

do many of you still build at 1/72?
I don’t build many aircraft, but when I do it’s almost invariably 1:72. I don’t have the room for larger scales, really, but I also like it because they go together more quickly — I tend to build aircraft as a diversion from heavy lifting on 1:35 scale kits that always end up taking far more conversion, detailing and other effort than I had planned on :)

I build roughly evenly in both 1/72 and 1/48. I have found some models just too tiny in 1/72 and better displayed in 1/48 whereas larger aircraft in 1/48 are just too big for my display cabinet. All multi-engined models I would tend to do in 1/72, whereas most WWI single engine aircraft are too tiny for 1/72. But apart from the display limitations, preferences are purely subjective, of course.

For planes I’ve never built anything bigger than 1:72 due to space issues (wife and two kids take up most of the room in my house).
However, I do have a 1/48 Mitsubishi Zero in the stash waiting patiently for me to get good!
Having been more used to painting Games Workshop miniatures and with 20/20 vision, small scale isn’t too much of a problem for me.

Like most of the others I build A mixture of 1/72nd and 1/48th aircraft. In fact the scale doesn’t matter, the larger scale kits provide parts for smaller bits of the aircraft.
