Hi all, here is my entry for this group build.

I made the ambulance version a few years ago and it was a lovely kit, so I'm going to build the cargo variant here.

Hot from John at the shop:

There's not a massive amount of parts to it, but here they are:

I have a bit of construction left on my LARC-V so I'll be making a start on this as soon as that one moves to the paint stage.

Nice one Andy, it looks a nice kit of an interesting subject.

Good luck with your build 👍

Geoff.

Nice, not seen one of those before, will follow along.... (y)
Thanks, it's definitely an oddity.

Kind of amphibious too as it could float and the tyres propelled it along (slowly!)

I've made a start on this one, skipping through the instructions and assembling the running gear.

The two halves of this vehicle are separated by a tractor joint, which allows lots of articulation in the pitch and roll directions, but nothing in "yaw". This is taken care of by steering the front and rearmost wheels, something I wanted to show this time:

So I did a bit of chopping, bending and gluing, shortened & lengthened the appropriate steering rods, ending up with this:

Hopefully it should look okay on a suitable base.

Thanks Paul. It's a fairly basic kit so plenty of scope for you to work your magic.

Rears turned 50% of fronts achieving a 29' radius, but non self-centering, so real twitchy on pavement. Looking good Andy.

I've made alterations to the steering and the build phase is pretty much finished, apart from the driver.

As I often do, I've added some weight in the form of aquarium "lead" strip to give it a more realistic feel in the hand:

I've also gone for the screen-less option this time. On the real thing it folds and stows away in a locker behind the driver.

It can also tow quite a bit too, so given the GB theme I've gone for a fuel bowser, rather than the more usual gun. It's an old Italeri kit so is taking some work, but should add a bit more interest to the final scene.

Very nice work so far Andy, I drove one of these many times in another world and another time.
Ear protection was essential (though we never bothered) as that screaming turbo diesel right behind you
was deafening to say the least. As minitnkr says it was real "twitchy" on pavement at speed but it's offroad
capabilities were remarkable. I once bucked three officers out the rear end on a tank trail:LOL:
I peeled a lot of potatoes for a long time:(

Jim.

I believe that is a G527 Water Buffalo from WWII. It may have been used in VN, but for potable water, not fuel. By VN it was replaced by the M149.
