Hi guys

Here's a couple of pics of a pond yacht that I recently restored for a guy who's grandfather was a POW in Germany in WW2. I had a ball doing her up and re-rigging her etc. On the day he was picking her up to take her back to his state (interstate truck driver) it blew 7 bells and I didn't get to test sail her with him!#&%##+#

A nice little boat. The hull is solid maple carved out of furniture and some of the original iron bits are on her too.

Lovely job Magpie. It must have given you a tremendous sense of satisfaction to restore such a boat. It is really nice to see something old looked after and returned to glory ready do do another few years sterling service.

Thanks Bunk

It is a lot of fun. I've done a few restore jobs for people for fun. There's less pressure on you when you do it that way. This doesn't mean you don't do as good a job, just a more relaxed one.

Jason,

A very well put together, interesting and informative web site. I will be having a closer look at the Robbe U-47 build as it is something I want to do in the next year or so.

The yacht restoration really was a lovely job and I have so much respect for someone who takes on such a job volountarily and does it for no more than the love of restoring a beautiful old boat.
