discussion Any suggestions?

My Trumpeter 1/32 Grumman Avenger build is progressing well.

The main construction is done, the model is primed and pre-shaded and tonight I will lay down the white base coat on the underside.

Allowing for a week when I will be off on a cruise in the Eastern Med the model should be finished in about 3 weeks or so - except...

I found I had an extra transparency sprue in the box but no turret transparency.

Back on the 1st April I investigated a replacement and sent off to Pocketbond all their requirments to get the part. Two weeks ago I rang them and they said a consignment was due in a week or so and the part might be in that. No news since and I will chase them again next week before I go on the cruise if it does not show.

But if this part is not forthcoming what do I do?

Has anyone any suggestions? I have heard that Trumpy are very poor in these situations and my confidence is low, its not exactly a cheap kit....

Does anyone know of an aftermarket part or how I might be able to lay my hands on a turret?

You could try Hannants Barry, I haven't personally, but I've heard they often have bits & bobs.

Could try the retailer Barry but this is grasping straws.

At least inform the retailer of the missing part. Tell him (or her) that you want a refund unless it is forth coming.

Find if the retailer has another one and then get him to raid that one.

Alternative buy a new one remove the part and then demand your money back on the new one. although this may be fraud I suppose.

No more fraudulent than not the retailer not supplying what one paid for. April is nearly three months ago.

I spent a wee while searching online Barry and could find no after market canopies/turrets for the 1/32 Avenger anywhere in the world. The kits are expensive! The only thing I can think of is to watch for an old model to be sold on ebay or suchlike so you can cannibalise it for the required parts. Guillows make a balsa model of the TBF in 1/32 (which would have been much cheaper) but the canopy is one piece and wouldn't be up to the required standard for your build. I'd chase up that retailer.
