Coming off the bat with Grahams question on the Mistel I'm wondering If anyone has built the "fagot" or Mig 15 from Revell

The reason I ask is I'm hoping to build this for my Korea Sig build. It's on a bidding site and think I'm leading, but I'm asking would this be ok OOB or would it really need Pe frets etc/ after markets to make it a worthy build. Your help would be most worthwhile before I go out and spend ( wife will go nuts I'm sure but.........

I believe its the old monogram tooling Robert. This was originally released in the early seventies so although good for its time detail wise (as are most of the monogram 1/48's from this period) it will have raised panel lines , the other options are Tamiya or trumpeter in this scale cheers tony

I would go with Tony's advice on this, I am not familiar with it. However, I am beginning to wonder if we do really need to spend a lot on kits. I know it is nice to have a top end finely engineered kit with all the extras but there are some really worthy old kits to be had out there that may need some work but if you put in the work as a modeller and produce something really nice, that has got to be more satisfying than the 'shake & bake' kits.

Or is that just me?

Thanks guys

I have been doing some research and although it may be a reboxing of an older kit it seems to stem 2005 ( not sure if this is the box artwork. You tube seem to ha v e a video build on the kit ( monogram) by seems to be ok.

Old kits like Graham said can be turned around and made look good

( My wife is a big number and she's still working well)

And also, i take it, not a member on here ! , when i first saw the post thought you were talking dress size, but then taking it in context realised you meant age ( i hope).

Yes the wife's 50 and I kep saying it's just a number........ But they don't see it that way!!:confused:

Sorry it took a while but work n family as usual. :D

But just like buses two turn up at once;)..

As suspected it's an old monogram kit IMHO it's lacking in detail but with a bit of TLC and some extra work something decent could come from it. The reason I have two is that the 1st I brought came with missing decals and no canopy and Revell couldn't replace as it's an oop kit so check yours carefully when it arrives cheers John View attachment 249940

I'm with the others who reckon some of these older kits can be made into very nice models. I still think the 1/48 Monogram B-17 is a great kit, once you make the clear parts fit :)

Cheers

Steve

Yep its definitely the old monogram kit , but thats not a bad thing. The cockpit may be a bit simplified but under a closed canopy it should be fine, if you were planning on opening it up then i would recommend maybe tarting the seat up a bit . The rest of it is fine . The monogram mouldmakers from the mid 70's to mid eighties turned out some superbly detailed kits of great subjects that sometimes get overlooked because they have raised panel lines but the detailing is second to none. Ive got dozens in the stash , I just love em! , cheers tony

You probably need to seek professional help for that :)

There are problems many things he needs to seek professional help with....... Including having the face of a Yak.... a moose or wilderbeast I can understand..... ;)

Well chaps I won the bidding and think really for the age of kit and size 1/48 I think it was a good dal at £15 ( just waiting on postie now.So next..........

Well looking into the pics from John it defo looks like I may have to spruce this up a little or a lot. I've seen there is aftermarket seat belts and also seats but they all say for made for trumpeter.......... Decisions decisions will a square peg fit in a round hole??

Thoughts would be helpful

Taken the plunge and decided to get the interior cockpit details from Eduard and also the Aires ejector seat with detailed belts etc and think with a bit of fiddling about and fettling it should fit but time will tell.

Thanks to all who gave comments positive on this

Thanks John for ref picks

I'm hoping too that my kit comes complete. Seller says it's all in bags and sealed still so fingers crossed.

Looking at the instructions you included it looks like a little surgery will be performed on the cockpit tub to talke out seat and replace with aftermarket I'm getting ( hope it all fits )

I'm sire I can turn this old kit around and make something of it eh ??

Kind regards

Robert
