Hello all - new to the forum here and needed some veteran advice. I've been working on a 1/48 Monogram B-29. The kit is from 1972 and did not come with the original instructions. I have it mostly assembled. The kit comes with multiple versions you can build. However, I noticed after studying pictures that the Enola Gay did not have bubble windows and gun ports on the fuselage like I have here:

Rather the fuselage is smooth like this:

I bought a small saw to cut these ports out - pretty sure I can do that - but how do I patch them back over smooth? the patches have to be slightly curved to match the fuselage. Its too late for me to patch from the inside - the halves are already joined.

You could use the bubble canopies upside down and fit into the holes, glue into place then use a modelling filler to fill up the depths, once hardened gently file and sand smooth to the level and curvature you require.

Si's idea is good, if you can get the bubbles inside and manipulate them without dropping them. You could also use thin plastic card slightly smaller than the the width of the hole and make a back plate by glueing them to the inside of the fuselage. Manipulate the card while the glue is still fresh. Then it would be fill time. The downside of this is you would have a small gap which may require a few goes at filling until it is smooth. There is a small aperture on the Enola Gay where those side bubbles used to be.
