Hi guys. I'm being driven to distraction by a minor glitch which has been going on for the last couple of months.

When I switch on my PC (running Windows 7) and try to access the forum, I get an error message saying "Scale models.co.uk is not responding" and a menu button saying "Recover webpage". I press this and get a message saying that Windows is looking for a solution to the problem. Then nothing happens for a couple of minutes - by which time I've got fed up and closed the programme.

I've got to the stage where I open something else before I try the forum. Once I've opened another programme such as my email or ebay, then, 99% of the time when I access the forum it works first time.

I suspect it's my machine that's doing this, so does anyone know how I can cure it?

Unless someone has a quick fix, I'd suggest switching web browser and see if you get better results. It's a long time since I used Internet Explorer for example as I was getting unusual problems. I mainly use Firefox now, but this is not problem free, so I a happy to switch again in such cases.

Start by deleting your cached files, I take it your using explorer?

Click on tools, then go to "delete browsing history" should give you options to delete files, cookies etc ... Delete the lot, you'll need to log into websites again so make sure you have your usernames and passwords remembered or available.

Restart PC and try it out, if you still have problems then post back we'll try other steps.

Thanks a lot Colin! Your fix seems to have worked. I can now go straight to the forum without having to open anything else first. Yay!!!

That's a blow.....I was hoping we'd got rid of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!How's things Dave?
You can't get rid of me that easy young Ron! It'll take more than a minor glitch on my 'puter to do that.

How am I? Plodding along in my usual ham-fisted fashion. Still looking for gainful employment. I did actually manage to finish summat the other day which made a change for me (my Robogear dio). That got me into figures so the Tiger is still on hold. Not to worry though, construction is just about done, so I've only got to sort out a suitable colour scheme.

And now you know everything interesting that's happened to me since Cosford!

Own up! Who was it just said "Get a life"?

We've not seen anything coming out of your shed for a while. I know you got some kits to work with 'cos I saw you buy 'em at Cosford so what you got on the bench?

Two words....Stuff all!

Considering I'm contributing to other people's builds just lately, I really must get a grip and do summat!

I have a few ideas up my sleeve since my recent trip to Normandy, so I'll try and get things organised over the next few days. I just can't seem to get started with it being summer time and all......

You know what we say to others in the same boat. Don't force it - get out and about and enjoy the weather if that's what you'd rather do. You'll get an idea soon and there'll be no stopping you!

PS Did you have a look at my Robogear dio? I'd appreciate your comments.

Now what have I done!?

My computer has stopped remembering my passwords. I now have to type them in every time I want to visit my websites. Anyone?

Gern

There should be a little box under the place you put your password saying remember me click that box and it should be ok

If that doesn't work you may have a virus that has erased your passwords

Just run a virus scan and see if that works

Hope this helps.

Not sure what browser you're using but in some there is an option box that you can check that automatically deletes browsing history, databases, cookies, passwords etc when you close the browser.

Use the help function to search to see if this option is there in your browser first and if it is, uncheck the box.

As Alan says, there is the check box on login for remembering name and password that you should check works first.

I've tried the 'Remember me' box and it doesn't work. I think it's to do with the auto history delete thing. I must have ticked one of those boxes which I shouldn't have but I can't work out which one.

When you type the login info on your website save, there is usually a little check box that's says remember me or such like next to it. Tick the box and you should only have to do it once for each site until the next time you clear all your passwords , cookies and stuff

Edit ..... Too late, ignore my post, still getting used to my iPhone and hadn't refreshed the pages
