Dear colleagues,

Some time ago I started ambitious project. Fascinated with Triumph Tiger 80 I took a closer look on British motorisation of the thirties. I chose to scratch build a Bentley racing car. The particular car belonged to Dorothy Paget and won the Le Mans 24 hours endurance race. I also plan to build Sir Birkin's single seater and a boat tail Gurney Nutting coach. That is why I cast the parts with resin. Plus a couple of friends from polish model forum asked me to cast some more copies so they could have a Braille scale Bentley too.

But have a look on what I made so far:

Nice tight fit without any glue:

The shock absorbers initially were to be etched like on this photo, but then I decided to cast them (even Airfix's 1:12 Bentley has each absorber as one piece)

The fit is constantly tested:

I thermoformed the grill frame and the hood:

Head light master (I made only one as both lamps are the same):

I painted some parts to choose proper colour:

Finally it is time to scratch build the coach:

As you see this is rather unusual project and it consumes my zeal in huge rate. So I need your encourragement to finish it  9_9

This looks fantastic and so tiny  (or have you made some very big matches and coins). I look forward to seeing progress on what I am sure will be a great little model.

Thanks a lot! Maybe I will never make models like those by Mr Gerald Wingrove, but I can attempt to be a 'micro Wingrove'  :D

Stunning work peter , your scratchbuilding skills are amazing. Looks superb so far cant wait to see more progress, cheers tony

That is looking fantastic for such a small scratch build Peter. Looking forward to more updates.

Well that is tiny, don't know how you do it, I built the 1/12 and that was fiddly enough for me.

Truly wonderful and very instructive. I learned a lot just looking at the photos.

Thank you guys!

I appreciate your kind words. I am happy that I can show something useful to you. I've learned a lot just looking at other modeler's works and never made a secret of "my little tricks". So if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Meanwhile you can have a look how I made the grill master.

Hi,

I've put the project aside for a while. I will definitely come back as soon as I can, but for the moment I focused on some other micro model which I've started a while ago. Soon I'll post a build thread of my scratchbuilt 1:144 Aichi E13A1 Jake.

Best regards,

Peter
