For many months I have been spouting on about having to get shut of some of my models due to space, if I don't, I cannot carry on making crap...er exceptional quality pieces:rolleyes: :D I have always managed to ignore that space was running out and just ended up dumping stuff...in fact it got that bad I couldn't work on the bench for chuffing models.

So, while the weather is nice I got a collection of stuff together and listed them on ebay with a £0.99p start...I doubt I will make the material costs back, but the time has come.

So, what is going:

There maybe even more to list. Sad but what can you do?

Alas Si, I know the feeling, have managed to scrunch a bunch of individual models in a bookcase and have several shelves about but it seems that "Eye Deep In Hell" has put me "over the top" {no pun intended}. But all of my models are like my children, very hard to part with, but then again:rolleyes:

sad but I know the feeling as my spares drawer is full to overflowing I think mine are destined for the bin though cant see anyone paying for my rubbish . if I had room the sub the ship and the truck would all be mine. sorry for your loss.

Sad to see them go Si .Ive got a few decent ones and many crap ones which a lot of people would just throw away but I just can't bite the bullet and get rid of any of them so I guess I'll have to make more space lol. Good luck with your sale Si .

Children or models ... that's a tough decision Jim!

Unless you're extremely lucky, I doubt anyone would get back all the costs in making a model after eBay fees, packing costs etc.

But maybe those that buy them will get pleasure from having then on display, so that's always a nice thought.

It's a shame to lose such great pieces of work mate , from time to time I have to box up some stuff or throw away ( not good enough to sell ) so I know how hard it is mate but I'm sure you'll replace them with better :)

Ta guys, problem is I like dios, or boarded pieces...so room runs out rather quickly. I don't think these are super great pieces, some were made a few years ago but, as you say, they are your sweat, blood and tears...good or bad, you attempted to make something. Jeez, I'm welling up here .

I think Patrick hit on a good point, despite what they make, that will be chucked back into the hobby, hopefully someone else, maybe not modelling minded, will appreciate them.

Si:)

Can't be helped Moni, I have a 1/400 Titanic kit, two 1/24 cars, another 1/24 huey, 1/24 London bus, plus some other bits. Cannot start to build until I have made room.

Wish I didn't have to though... :(

I just give mine away.............. I keep a few. but I have a mate whose sun likes them for his bedroom. I loke to think they all sit majestically on a shelf somewhere....... But they probably end up trashed. I just don't ask.

Ouch!!! The dream machine is one of your bests builds!!!

Aaugh...don't...I wanna keep em all! :( :D

If I really could keep them I would...having another look in the shed and musing...there really is no more space.

When I left home to go to college I cleared a great number of Airfix aircraft off the bedroom shelves, put them in a carrier bag, and gave them away to a young lad who was the son of a friend of my girlfriends mother. I sometimes wish I hadn't and I would love to know what was in the bag now, but I like to think he had some more hours of enjoyment out of them before they finally ended up in the bin. If we all had all the models we had ever made none of us would get through the door!

As long as they gave you pleasure to build them Si that is what matters.

More shelves, bigger shed, give the missis a smaller wardrobe (do not tell her that was my idea!), convert the attic, dig a cellar in the back garden. Get creative Si, that's what you are good at!! :)

I have reached the limits of my small shed, it's filed with old kits I've just bought off eBay because I don't want to run the risk of never owning them.

I have made a promise to be much more organised and build my next kits much faster and more methodically than I do currently but I won't make the quality get worse, it has to improve each build (I hope)

It's one of the Universal laws of Nature Si. Whatever you build/collect, you will ALWAYS run out of shelf space. I have the same problem with my books, every so often I have to get rid of those I'm least likely to read again. Choosing which ones that have to go is a nightmare!

Hard cheese Si difficult to part with things which mean a lot.Getting to the stage were although not full it is cluttering up making

it difficult for friends to view.

What I thought was !. We have a museum which is dedicated to boats Jersey being a place where boats were made in numbers

fishing etc For instance the first life boat was made in Jersey.

I go and have a look around the museum every so often and the last couple of times I have noticed a couple of exhibits not in

the boating tradition. So I am thinking of approaching the museum

This is to offer to set up a scene with aircraft and military models in. Not to give away but to change the models every now and then.

Gives them an exhibit and a bit of space here. Plus I would be delighted to show my models to the public as it all seems much better,

after spending all that time on them, to be seen by interested members of the public.

May also inspire some people to take up model making. Plus others to explore the history around the machines portrayed by the models.
