I think the idea of forums and modelling clubs should be the emphasis on trying new techniques to enhance your builds and get a better understanding to create better models that you enjoy. This is important but if folk either online or face to face crit in non helpful way then that has just negated the spirit of the hobby.

I agree with Patrick, it is the 'nerdy' modelers that have pushed for more realism and accuracy in builds that most of us now enjoy, still just cos your a super-ace-plastic-freak doesn't give you carte-blanche to be a berk.

It is a shame that there are people such as this. There are some who say that this generation are not as good as in the old days.

For me this generation have the same enthusiasm and wanting to learn as all those that I have seen before them. They are just

a lovely set of kids. Getting aged I have found that to be generous with their help and polite. There are of course a very small

percentage that are not and always will be. Perhaps your opponent Si came from that percentage.

I hate people who ungrateful to these younger ones. They after all are those that will look after this chap in his old age. It may be

this young chap. Si your support for this youngster is gets my 200% support.

I disagree that the problem lies with 'rivet counters', or indeed that such a person should be thought of as wrong or unhelpful.

We're all seeing, building & enjoying numerous modern technically accurate kits. Where does the impetus for such kits come from? The seemingly despised rivet counters!  :o

OOOO...I knew that "rivet counter" quip would get your goat Patrick but in your case we mean it in a loving and appreciative way ^_^ .......Jim :)
