BMP -2 In Aleppo - Buildings construction

Steven.
Nice signs, as for placing I personally think just above the roller door. What does your research show . I found this .

This next one has some air conditioning units nearly as good as yours. ! Note the very neat uncared for wiring ! :smiling3:

How ever you place them they will look good .

Nice ref shots John - thanks :thumb2:

Adding a bit of interest to the signs:

I have added some bettaldamage to the restaurant sign - it looks a bit cartoonist right now With the white plastic shining through the holes - i did not want to overdo the holes but maybe a few more - different calibre?

I have been thinking ( as one does..).... the sign will sit in the shadow of the balcony overhead and the nights in the middle east are really dark - due to the heat, activity on the streets will only pic up after sunset, so signs in often dimly it streets will often be lit by spotlights, downlights etc.
one of the accessory set had a halogen flood light, so i scratched a mounting bracket ( as my fat clumsy fingers broke the one in the set...) and a bracket for wall mounting
When finished it will have a shattered front glas. It will sit below the sign.

Steven .
Think the sign looks ok as it is, wait until you try it in place , then decide.
The lamp brkt from wood is just what you would expect to see, anything will do attitude !
Gets better with every post, I want to see it all together !:smiling3: ignore me and take your time .lol .

Thanks for replying
A few more updates - i do apologize for this unorganized blog guess that's how i work these days -
been watering the signs a bit further - red one is metal blue one is wood

Metal:
Paint tend flake around bullet holes in thin metal plate - I tried to replicate this - I have added some larger caliber damage and some streaks as well thinking that being under a balcony it would be more exposed to water streaking , and grime running down. The camera angle make it look like holes are bending outwards - not the case.

Blue - tacked in place:

The wood one - It sits in the open so I have omitted straks on the surface and been going for a more dusty faded look.
I misted it with Tamiya buff and did a black acryllic wash
I have also added some streaking under the sign and around details on building - electrical installations and AC unit

Looks good Steven, nice work on those signs, base has some nice touches.
John.

Just caught up with this Steven (I gotta look around more) excellent work and imagination!
I wholeheartedly approve of all work up to this point:thumb2:

Not exactly the greatest infrastructure to try and imitate, that's what makes this special.
you are doing a fantastic job of if, I'm definitely on board.

Cheers....Jim:hugging-face:

Thanks Jim, indeed not the easiest to replicate - case in point: While the manhole and drain are ubiquitous in cities having scoured footage and pics from Aleppo i have not as of yet been able to ascertain whether Aleppo has fire hydrants. Photos of firefighting taking place a street level abound, wtih firefighters applying hoses to the flame, but tend to focus on the fire rather the source of the water that quench it....so if anybody has a seen a pic of fire hydrants in Aleppo let me know...One would expect that fire hydrants would not be present in the old city but surely in the more modern part wanna be certain though.

Very nicely done signs Steven, however I think the shop owner iz knot verree gud hat spellink Mediterranean:tears-of-joy:.

Yeah i Noticed the spelling error too but in the middle east I often saw misspelling on English signs - even official ones..... In my view it adds to authenticity.

Storm drain and manhole in
added some slices of oasis to make some sinkholes / road damage - will be covered with dyed Plaster of Paris

Hi Steven
This is really great stuff. Love your attention to detail. All the little, thoughtful additions lift this to another level.

Thanks Jim and Greg

The asphalt is laid - needs to be sanded - still drying the oasis and foam base changes the drying time for the plaster of Paris. Sidewalks are not attached at this point

'bout time for an update - remember those makeshift sandbags i posted ref pics of? - here's my take - might need a redo in certain places, a dark wash and pigments:

Steven.
Glass looks perfect, don't think there would be chance of very much more being in place after being pounded.
Sandbags :thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:
Looking good buddy.
