Chris,
If the big un turns out as well as that one it will be a beaut.
HI Scottie yes i'll be very pleased if it does an in that diamonbacks brilliant red top an wings an tails an i just hope that the decals dont let me down but i think before i start the build i will use a small unimportant decal off the sheet to see if it splinters an if it does then PANIC STATIONS LOL

HI GUYS well ive actually made a start on the hornet build as ive been dithering about where to start as dont want to start in the wrong place an find i cant fit in what i have planned on the build an the first part cut from the spruces was a side avieonics bay hatch cover an ive fitted in a hinge so the bay aviveonics will be able to be seen an lit up with a white 2mm led an can also be closed up postion an this side is on the practice side on port as the starboard side will be the show side an here it is bein fitted in some pics IMG_0248.JPG

AN for once the hatch cover is an excellent fit but very tight IMG_0249.JPG

an hinge is fitted may be a bit to big as this build will be like the tomcat warts an all IMG_0250.JPG

AN in the open postion an i dont think the hinge will be seen much as it will be right under the start of the wing an its got to be tidyied up an the hole there will be for the led wires to go through for the lightin IMG_0251.JPG

AN closed up again an this panel cover is so tight to try an open as i learnt on the tomcat how not to fit them but they all came right in the end but on this panel ive bent it slightly so i can get my nail underneath so i can open the panel cover up IMG_0252.JPG

an i will paint all the aveionics boxs an wires in different colours so it makes it a bit more instresting when lit up with lights IMG_0254.JPG

IMG_0255.JPG

An here a shot of both front parts of the fusalarge an as can be seen there are avieoincs bays on both sides of the fusalarge an tommorow i will try an fit the the other panel cover on but maybe use a smaller hinge but if i do the smaller hinge may not keep the panel straight so may have to use another like i have on the port side an i must remember to fit it the 2mm white leds as i nearly did forget on the tomcat just remembered in time before i closed up the fusalarge havles stay tuned in for the next instalment lol

HI Jakko so do i but well lets not get carried away on this fittin issuses as remember about the first main parts i glued togeather on the tomcat was them engines an yes they fitted brilliantly then things started to go pear shaped an go south quickly an on this hornet this is the only first part again so things again could go south Aaaaaarrrcccchhhhh lol but i hope not
lets hope this is a good build eh
CHEERS for lookin in Jakko

HI ALL just another small update on whats happening on the hornet as thats all i can do now a few pics at a time as my laptop is running very slow due to its full of junk but while i can load up a few pics at a time its better than nothing an heres what i have done today an thats fitted in that starboad side aveoinics panel cover an Jakko WE was talkin about how well that first panel fitted well the panel i did today took some filelin down to get it to fit an i had to take this little blighter on an off 3 times before it would open an close to my sattisfaction an some pics both closed IMG_0257.JPG

AN here they now open ok after a bit of trouble IMG_0260.JPG

AN Closed again an im fairly pleased with the result IMG_0259.JPG

SO now whats the next step in the build ? welli havnt thought ahead yet will do maybe tomorrow or another day as jen said if its nice we will go out to the beach an chill out thats all for now

HI GUYS well im still thinkin up ideas an i have been lookin at the engine layout an im a bit dissapointed that the engines are nowear near as detailed as the tomcat engines were an a plan shot of how they will fit in the fusalrgeIMG_0261.JPG

an the engines are smaller but may look ok when they are assembeled IMG_0262.JPG

i dont know if im bein a bit too ambitious here as this is a 5 mm flicering candle like yellow led high brightness as im thinkin of fittin one in each enginge to give the effeckt of the enginge running as it fits in this engine part just right to shine down the engine tubeIMG_0264.JPG

an here 's where it will fit in the back part of the engine i like the idea but IMG_0263.JPG DO YOU GUYS THINK IM TAKIN THIS TO FAR ?

an i want to have an opening engine cover like i did on the tomcat but trumpy havnt givin me no easy cut here an it goin to be a devil to cut out with this zigzag opening of the engine cover so i will have to use a very tiny half a mm drill bit an chain drill it out an then file it tidy an then to fill the gap to fit in a bit of plasti card IMG_0266.JPG

HI ALL well another small update on whats happening on my super hornet an the last pic was a shot of the engine inspection cover that i wanted to have it open an close like the real plane but it was very difficult to cut out the zigzag part but i have managed it an it looks aceppetable an first its in closed postionIMG_0270.JPG

an here in open postion to show the engine when they are fitted IMG_0271.JPG

an closed again an took me all day to cut this with a scapel an boy was my hand ackein afterwards IMG_0273.JPG

Thread owner
an here the enginse have been built an painted an quite colorfull an ready to be fitted in when i get that far IMG_0269.JPG

Thread owner
Well done cutting that zig-zag engine cover. I like the led idea.
CHEERS Jim yes that zigzac cut was bloomin hard to do an nearly stabbed myself in the stomacke when the scapel slipped out of the plastic had to have a rest as got the shakes but done it in the end ole stubbon streak rose up in me to think well im gonna do it an yes hopefully the led in them engines should look good
cheers sir ATB Jim

AN 2MM nav leds fitted in the top fusalage half underside an they work ok an will show them goin later IMG_0274.JPG

AN FROM the top view the nav leds fitted in lovley an smooth finishin like in the tomcat but boy are they small becasue trumppetteer dint fit in holes an glazein so had to use the led as the glass glazein after drilling out the holes for them nav lights IMG_0276.JPG

Looks like you're having a lot of fun with this one Chris!
HI Arine yes im goin to try something different on this model although most will be the same as the tomcat but had some freinds use their phones to vid her all lit up an they seem to really be impressed so well worth all the hard work it cost me but just hope that this hornet will be better an so far it is so will see how the build goes
ATB to you sir

HELLO Chaps another small update on what im doin on the hornet an still fittin in small 2mm led's in the tail verticals an here ive got to fit the wires through the tiny hole at the tail top so had to have a think on how to do it as them big resistors have got to come off IMG_0304.JPG

an afer havin a think i had to do something that i did not not want to do an thats open up the wirein on the resistor an desolder the hair thin wires an had to be very carfull as these wires break very easy as out comes the soldering iron IMG_0305.JPG

an here the risistor has been removed so its now just the tiny wires to thread down through the tiny tail hole IMG_0306.JPG

an done so now i can get the tiny 2mm led ready an fashioned in my fingers to be at the right angle to be glued in place an these are 2mm amber flashin led's as on the real plane they are AMBER FLASHIN ANTI COLLISHION LIGHTS an the tail has been burred out to take the wirein IMG_0307.JPG

AN Fitted to the tails rear is a red flashin anti collishion light also an both are fitted here an the wires all gluded in place just like i did on the tomcatIMG_0308.JPG

AN they work ok will show later IMG_0309.JPG

an treid them both workin at the same time an yes they work ok on 12v system but still quite a few more to fit before i can start the build as these have to be fitted now before i close up the parts an here can be seen the two resistors to cut down the power from 12v system IMG_0310.JPG

That looks very tricky, getting those resistors off. But I guess you have enough experience wiring up models like this :)

HI Jakko yes its is very tricky when cuttin the black shrink rap off the resistor as too much pressure cutting an you can cut of the resistors wire where the led solders to but ive leant how my pressure to apply so that dont happen now but i did when i first started doin thse leds an i really hate havin to do it but no way will the resistor fit through the tiny hole an i dont like the idea of drillin a big hole to get the resistors through so off they come an its even harder to resolder the tiny hair thin wires on to the resistors esp if i get the shakes lol but now ive done quite a few got the hang of doin it an all tail lights now fitted an working will show soon
THANKS FOR STOPPIN Jakko an havin a look see
ATB to you sir

Gosh Chris. You have way too much patience then myself.Never owned a 1.32nd aircraft kit.If i ever built one it would have to hang from Ceiling.I did attempt to build an Amt/Ertl B52h in 1.72nd which was a pain to build.Doing a great job.
