Boatmans Super Hornet F18/A- F Build

That's quite a big gap to deal with Chris. Gonna take a whole load of file, dry fit, file dry fit and repeat. Get Jen to make a big pot of tea and open a big packet of biscuits. You'll be at it a while :)

Agree - lots of tea!!!!
Bummer Chris. I think you need a harsher whip to tame that beast!!

HI ALL again just want to upload a pic from yesterday that failed to upload an its a shot of the front landing gear with the white landing light fitted as thought this light was goin to be a problem as when i first treid it it wont go but afterwards found out that the led manufacture had not stripped the negative wire so done that after some hassle as that plastic coatin is very strong an now the light goes thank god phew an the white 2mm led is fitted in a proper silver reflector what came with the kit an it was just made to order chrisb Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_0418.jpg Views:	0 Size:	147.5 KB ID:	1233601

HI Jim yes you was right regards that 4 mm gap in the front undercart bay but ive managed to get over the prob by gently cuttin down the front an rear side of the bay an the gently leaverin the side bit where the gap is up to the fusalarge side an glueining it an it worked fine so no more 4mm gap thank good ness
cheers to you sir for takin an intrest i the build

HI ALL well the hornet build is still ongoin as its very complex how im building it with openin panels an lights an todayits taken me nearly all day just to get the outer red lines on the upper fusealarge as there is no defineing line to stick the tamyia maskin tape to must have taken that tape on an off several times as when i looked at it from top veiw it just did not look right but now i think ive cracked it an here a shot of the main maskin tape line IMG_0429.jpg

an sprayed red just got to hope there are no leeks underneath the tamyia tape an i sprayed this 3 times gently to get good coverage an to aviod runs in the paint phewnow goin to leave it for a day or so for the paint to harden IMG_0431.jpg

an while i was gettin the paint sorted ive been now near a week tryin to get the office intrument vid screens lights all wired up an as they are so thin like human hair an fragile ive finally done them an managed to solder all 12 wires an connect them up to a mini plug so it can just be plugged into the rear part of the fusalage an pic of the plug an these pugs have 3 pins on them as one pin is set further apart so its impossible to fit them in the wrong postion IMG_0426.jpg

Always enjoy your updates Chris. Nice looking red paint job. It's the electrics and wiring that really amazes me - superb work.

Hi Chris.

Red and white painting I hate doing, but yours looks good. A tip I always spray a Matt varnish or primer on the area and once dried I then paint the colour, this seals the tape line so I don’t get any paint bleed.

an now that all the 2mm leds lights are all fitted i can begin to assess the layout of how the mini eletric plugs will befitted in the fusealage as got think ahead if i fit the plug in a certain postion will it allow the fusealge to jion up so really im at times spendin as much time thinkin ahead as im building an here a shot of the lower front part of the fusealarge an there is x 4- IMG_0425.jpg 2mm leds fitted in to it an ive been testin them like crazy as had one led pack up in one of the side avionnics bay but it was ok in the end just a bad connection phew an i'll say this hornet build is more difficult than the big tomcat phew again

AN couple of pics of the finished office with the led's all fitted in an its now ready to fit in the fusealage when that red paint is dry an maskin tape took off an if an red bleeds the i'll have to mask up the red an respray the grey phew an it took ages to solder all 12 wires that feed these tiny led's as the tiny wires are so springy an wont stay where i want them too Aaaaaccchhhhh was sweatin buckects an shakes but got them done without jens help as she is not to well as she is very depressed so i let her sleep on the seatee but she seems better now IMG_0427.jpg

Always amazes me how much electrical work you put in your models Chris! Dispite all the thin wires you managed to hook it all up, well done...

Take care of Jen, hope she's feeling better soon, a lot of people get a bit depressed when the leaves are falling from the trees. Hope you can cheer her up a bit...
