very nice color modulation.... inspiring...:smiling2::smiling2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:

Top coat is Mission Models. It goes down very thin and needs lots of coats, but that just means I have a lot more control with the coverage.
Don't you have to use it with their primer, to stop it attacking the plastic?

Pete

looking real nice bob love the paint work and im with you on making your own cardboard holder why on earth you would pay for it when its so easy to build...

Cheers guys. :)

Pete, I use Stynylrez/Badger/UMP primer. The MM paint sticks fine to it and I haven't found it damaging to plastic.

I like the MM paint, I don't want it to cover in one coat so that I can control the amount the pre-shading/modulation/shadow that shows through. :)

Evening Bob,
As everyone has said, cracking start on the paintwork. The more I see of your build, the more I’d like one :tongue-out:

Nice paint, I can see your point about coats, great for doing modulation, where most paints just cover the whole thing.

Cheers guys. :)

Si, I'd highly recommend this kit, it goes together so well and has been a pleasure to build.

Getting there now, tools and ammo painted. Just got the figures left to paint, but I think I will crack on and finish the vehicle first. :)

Way To go Bob! Loving it and learning lots. I will be trying your technique in 1/87 scale at some
point in the future.:thumb2:
Cheers, Rick H.

Bob, I've been quietly watching from the circles.
I approve of your thin coats approach. I adopt the same with my brush painting.
As you show, layers of thin paint allow the previous coat(s) to come through, thus producing a nice variation in shades - and as a bonus I find it gives a kick start to the weathering process too.

Looking good......:thumb2:

Nice work on the small stuff Bob I echo Ron's comments about the paint work.

I do have concerns about the soldiers though. They are obviously in some pain now that you have chopped off their hands. I am sure you have your reasons but to leave them on the pole! Yuk! Are they recovering in hospital okay??

Thread owner
Cheers Steve,

The pole comes with the hands moulded on, I guess easier to attach wrists to hands rather than hands to pole. I'm sure a spot of glue and a plaster will see them back in the action in due course.

Bob,
I second the comments about the paint, that is really very well done. I think I will steal your idea and try it on my build.
Cheers, Mike.

Cheers Mike, although not my idea (I stole it from someone else :) )

Hi Bob
The paint job is very nice indeed. Your method is one to remember.
