Worth keeping it a lighter colour than the traditional dark green as I find Tamiya paint darkens up quite a bit after the gloss coat has been applied.

It does call for the dark green as the secondary camo colour. Would you suggest adding in some white, or using a different green?

I always thought Chieftains were painted NATO green & NATO black, although I'm the first to admit that modern armour isn't my field of expertise.

Maybe. The instructions offer three variants, all using flat & dark green. I believe it is quite an old kit, so maybe the colours our outdated??

Possibly the dark green just looks black in photos??

Bob I used NATO Green as the base coat then I used XF 27 black green flat when I did my chieftain if that's any help mate

As I say, I'm no expert, but I'm going by what I remember reading from someone in the RA in the 80s who painted Chieftains.

This is what I think of as a NATO Chieftain

In real scale they are painted two shades of green but the darker shade does look almost black and its a nightmare to apply as its usually brushed on as its to thick to spray due to its IR reflectivity

NATO black is a very dark green, although I think the actual colour of the lighter green is bronze green?

Go mad & paint it pink Bob! :p

I realised that when I was painting them, by that stage I couldn't be bothered. Lesson learned for next time.
