Dave . See you come from Paignton. Love Dartmouth,Paignton and that area have always wanted to go on the railway. Times have never suited.
Have you been on the trip and what is it like ? Have done the Dartmouth Totnes river trip which is top notch.
Paignton sea front is real English with the huts and typical sea front activities.

Hi Laurie, I've done the steam trip from Paignton to Kingswear and back a couple of times, not done the paddle steamer 'Kingwear Castle' yet but seen her operating a tour when we went down to visit Dartmouth Castle earlier this year.
A lovely place to sit and watch trains when down at Kingswear is just up from the station on what would be the upside, there's a path that runs from the station up through a boatyard and along the edge of the river Dart, it's a beautiful place to be.
We've done a trip from Paignton to Exmouth thanks to First Great Western, that was a great trip up through Torquay on to Newton Abbot then along the sea wall at Dawlish and then on to Exeter, where we then travelled on the other side of the estuary to Exmouth. I'm pretty sure we went through Cockwood where the other Dave lives........lots of Daves!
Paignton sea front is great but most of the time we go elsewhere during the summer as there are too many 'grockles' (tourists), the cost of parking rockets, the beach huts take up valuable parking places when the council relocate hundreds of sheds for the grockles, so us locals have nowhere to park if we wanted to! But hey ho that's the seaside for you!
I love the sea front this time of year though especially if there's a good rough sea, tide in and the waves crashing combined with the occasional steam trip along the coast past Goodrington.........perfect!
