Wasn’t sure where to stick this but hopefully someone reading it will be able to help. The Hawker Hunter I’m painting shows the underside to be painted silver but with an addition of 15% white. I’ve been looking for a ready mixed paint but what would it be called? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Normally Hunters were either Natural Metal (aluminium) or Light Aircraft Grey BS381C 627

Hi Mick, I'm guessing the silver and 15% white mix is to achieve Aluminium. Humbrol or Gunze have aluminium shades.

Cheers,
Richard

Mick found this may help.

Upper camo - Dark Green BS381C:241 and Dark Sea Grey BS381C:638
Lower surfaces - High Speed Silver (not Light Aircraft Grey which wasn't introduced until the mid 1960s).

Better get it quick before it speeds away :tears-of-joy::smiling6:

From what i remember, Mick is building a Mk.9 Hunter. As they came into service around 1963 they could indeed have Light Aircraft Grey underneath ;)

Many thanks gents for all your help, I’ll see what I’ve got in stores

Wow I got it right then in an upside down manner.

Mick. Just had a word with a friend, RAF type, who actually worked on Hunters. All info from all here in his opinion is correct.

Although he did add that in my case this was unusual. :tears-of-joy:
