Needed to get rid of some of my older models. My model shelf is full!
They don't seem to sell for much, plus there's the hassle of selling, packing, posting etc on ebay et al, so not going down that route.
Although I do have a couple of younger relatives, the models are not really "toys" and can't really be played with, plus, when I asked my relatives, they did not seem to want them, (for their young kids) so that ones a pass too.
I considered charity shops, but the few we have locally have never had models for sale in them?
I also considered donating / offering to this forum, but in the end I decided to take them apart myself and keep a lot of parts for spares, eg: wheels, seats, small arms, figures, etc and the larger parts, panels, etc I will use as test pieces for trying out new paint, glue, weathering, etc.
So they are now gone from my model shelf, but I still have most of the parts!

What???? You didnt think to shoot at them with an air rifle???? Lol

Buy a big plastic tub for a spares box, you will be surprised how quick it fills, and how useful it will be in the future

Yep, I have just recently bought about eight small tupperware type tubs, which I'm now using to store bits to better organise my model making area / desk, etc. So most of these salvaged bits will go into various storage tubs. 8-)

I'm considering the same avenue Peter; I wonder if anybody would like to see the victims before they reach Valhalla?
Steve

Yes, show us some pictures Steve 🙂

I’m nearly at the same stage with the display cabinet nearly full too. My neices son will get possibly have them though as he’s had some before otherwise they will be relegated to the bin 😟

Geoff.

I read about somewhere in the US that recycles the leftover sprue trees
Wonder if anywhere here can recycle old plastic models, seems a shame they have to go into landfill.

I chuck my leftover bits and pieces into the recycling bin. Hopefully that means the eventually get used again rather than fester in a landfill site 👍

I wondered about contacting a local hospice or old folks home to see if they would like to display some of my models. Might bring some pleasure to the residents and you could keep rotating them to keep the display fresh.
