Hi all, went to the model show at the raf museum ,cosford, yesterday. I have to say its the first time ive been here and WOW! i was amazed. Not only is the model show excellent, with loads of club stands displaying their models and plenty of traders selling stuff, but the museum exhibits( spread over 3 or 4 hangars) are superb too. A few scale model members met up here too (myself , gern,spanner570, noble and rons wife too) so it was great to put a face to the names. I managed to get a few bargains but didnt get any photos( DOH!!) Truth be told i was that busy meeting my friends, looking at the stands and buying stuff that i didnt really see a lot of the exhibits. I think the museum is superb and im going to have to go again to have a really good look round, and its FREE!! just £3 for all day parking. I would recommend a visit to anybody. cheers tony:cool2:

I am sorry I couldn't get, especially as we drove past it (nearly) on the way to Wales the other day so I know it was 110 miles lol. However, I have spent a fortune on models this month (by my standards) and we had family visiting for the day to so I couldn't really ask SWMBO to drive me out there, come home to feed the visitors then come back to pick me up. I know she loves me but not to do 400 odd miles and cook Sunday dinner etc, especially as she has just paid £100 to have my push bike rebuilt seeing as how I had spent all my pocket money on kits in Wales and on return lol.

I am sure there will be others so I hope to meet you at some point.

Glad you had a good day.

I went to Cosford too, and it was superb to meet up with the three lads from Scale Models...It is safe to say the four of us were like Orientals in a camera shop. Excellent aircraft on display, full size and models, and full sized tanks, missiles and more important, masses of kits to buy, some very obscure and hard to get...Ask Yak face (Tony) I have never seen a grown man slobber so much!

The last time I had been to Cosford was 30 yrs ago with our local Cub Pack, but now it has high tech hangers galore and a cafe, all very clean.

All in all a great day in the best of company. Best bit was my wife being 'Escorted' off the site by Storm Troopers. I took a shot of her after 'Interegation' too!!

The dynamic foursome under the Vulcan nose are L to R:- spanner570 / Noble / Yak face and Gern.

I hope you don't mind Tony if I post the pictures on your thread, it seems a bit daft to start a new one...All a bit jumbled and marked Fw190, sorry.

Thanks again boys,

Ron

great pics ron, im glad one of us remembered to take some! Seeing your pics has made me realise even more what i missed, ive got to go again!!! cheers mate tony

Evenin' all.

Yep, I was there too. And, just like Tony, I didn't get any pics - despite the fact that I had my camera in my pocket! I just forgot all about it. My son-in-law was there and I know he got some pics so I'll see if I can upload them soon.

Smashin' day out - thanks guys for making it even better - and I'd recommend a visit to anyone interested in either airplanes or model kits or both!

There is another show in two weeks time at Hinckley. Not quite so grand maybe, like Cosford but without the real 'planes, but a good show all the same. I went last year and had a good time. I gotta go again this year 'cos I've still got some of my budget left from Cosford - can't let that be frittered away on stupidity like food, rent, water rates etc!

Details here: IPMS(UK) Events Diary

Gern

PS Mrs Ron - It was nice to meet you.

I should be able to make Hinckley, SWMBO used to live there and her step dad still does, only an hour and a tad from Peterborough.

Looks likes it was a good day out, thanks for the photos too lads. I'm going to try and get to one show later in the year.

Have fun, John

Cracking photo`s , thanks for sharing them , glad you all had a great day lads ,

Great to put some faces to our model mates , gonna post a picture of myself when I next post a thread with photos as we all should I think ,

Richy

"We got you with suss!" If I was a copper I'd arrest the four blokes under the Vulcan.lol.

Steve

So, who was who then????? (in the picture of the 4 desperadoes...) And why is Ron's better half fluttering her eyelashes at James May??????

I'm the good looking one!

Didn't I read you're thinking of going to Hinckley? I think I'll start a thread and see if we can organise a get-together.

Gern

What!!??

You mean you can't tell instantly from my description? I thought it was so obvious.

Graham, the present Mrs. Ron has just been 'Interegated' by two burly Storm Troopers, and she's a bit tired, now't to do with Mr. May.... bless!!

I mentioned the 'just 4' in my post with the pickies...L to R:- spanner570/Noble/yakface and Gern.

Excellent company.

Ron

As you can see i was at the cosford show as well and as it was my first time there i have to say that i was really surprised, it was an excellent day out as well as meeting Ron Tony and Gern in person with lots and lots and lots to see, they also made me buy a battleship lol. Hi Ron i will post the few shots i got as soon as possible i was that busy looking around me i forgot to use the camera i had brought with me, i would recomend cosford air museam to anyone and the models on display made me want to come home and bin all of mine the standards were extremely high. Ron mate i gave in and bought that submarine kit all, all four feet of it.

scott

Hi Scott,

Good job you managed to get hold of enough timbers to make a wharf then! A bit big for battleship scale but they'll fit quite nicely at 1/72!

Gern

PS That's 30 quid well spent.
