ok....everyone seems to be contacting me about this now.

one thing people want to know is who is still going.

here is a list of who i think is going. if you are not going, or you are but not on the list please let everyone know by posting here. The general idea is meet by the P-51 at 11:00am. some people want to meet the night before and have a meal and drink in Nigel's honour. that is entirely up to them and i will leave it to them to organise that umoungst themselves.

Bunkerbarge & poissibly Mrs.B (depending on weather he wants to by her a new dress or kitchen utensil)

I'm afraid guys I will not be going now.

I realise that we will all have our own way of remembering and honouring Nigel and I appreciate that a number of you will want to get together and have a drink on his behalf.

For myself Nigels departure has left me with a tremendous emptiness that I prefer to deal with privately. The whole project of arranging this meeting was very dear to Nigels heart and I was very much looking forward to meeting him for the first time this weekend to honour that effort.

The fact that he will not be there would be something I would find very difficult to deal with so I am going to pass on this now and maybe try again some time in the future.

I wish everyone well and hope that you enjoy the day at Cosford.

that is very understandable Richard and im sure....would hope no one would hold that against you.

For those of you that are going. I few people have asked me if Charlotte is still comming (even offered her lifts) Unfortunatly she will not be attending. Even though se would like to she feels that she should stay at home with Ingrid and her brothers and sisters.

In a way i feel i have let Nigel down not being able to go. Even though i let him know before his passing. He had a big idea about doing something for christmas and was quite excited about it and eager to tell me. Unfortuantly we never had time to talk about it or missed each others phone calls. He asked me to ring him last saturday night to tell me about it, luckely i came on here first. Unfortunatly he did not tell charlotte about it so his most probably great idea is lost.

For this reason i feel terribly bad and wish i had rang him sooner.

So if anyone want to do something for christmas or the new year. please throw your suggestions my way and we will see what we can come up with.

Just to confirm that I'll still be going to cosford - I'm not sure if i'll be staying the night b4 tho.

I'm sure Nigel would have wanted the event to still go ahead, I'm sure he'll be in the minds of all those attending.

Regarding future events - how about a trip to Duxford? Plenty there to see and always new restoration projects in the hangers - and they also have special days - tank driving etc. I think you can pay a fee to get a chance to see some APC's in action and if you are financially inclined you can hop in a vehicle yourself and take it for a spin.

Also - for next July what about the Farnborough Airshow?

For all those travelling down the night b4 - Are there any plans to meet up for a drink and a curry or something the night b4?

I have some jobs to finish off Friday Morning but might be driving down later in the day. Be nice to meet a few fellow Scale Modelers for a drink.

Hi,

I just got back from Cosford - only took 3 hours on the way back too.

It's a shame a few more members of the group couldn't make it on this occasion though.

Still good to put faces to some of the names of the forum members - and Cosford is worth a visit if you're an aviation enthusiast.

Does anyone Recognise what aircraft / type this engine is from? It's from Cosford's Collection but someone had removed the name labels from the display...

It's a big chunk of aluminium about 5 feet tall - it's configuration is 12 cylinders - two inline 6's mated together one inverted and with an output shaft on each end.

It could be from an Aircraft with a single engine powering a Puller and Pusher Propeller...any ideas?

My best guess is a Diesel Airship engine?

EDIT:

Mystery Solved - it's Jumo 205 engine!

I reallly wished I could have been there myself. Unfortunately, it would have been quite the long trip. However, if we ever bring an event like this to the eastern US.. you have me in... :)
