discussion Cutting resin parts - suggestions?

I gather that a "razor saw" (?) is the way forward (or is it?) when cutting resin parts of the moulding block? Is there anything anyone can recommend in this dept? There seems to be some scalpel-type implements that you can fit razor saw blades to - is that the preferred way or is there another? Not really sure if that Q makes sense - just basically want to know how to cut my resin bits off the blocks I guess!! Thanks in advance, Rob

Hi Rob. Yes a razor saw is the way forwards for the heavier parts, some of the finer parts the join at the block is so fine you can manage it with a sharp knife.

AS for which type of razor saw? I have a fine one and one a bit less finer. The very fine one give a good cut but clogs up quick the courser one still clogs but not as bad!

Remember to use a face mask as the dust from resin is harmful to your lungs. I find a damp cloth on the cutting mat helps keep the dust in one place and stops it blowing around.

If you sand it after, use wet and dry type papers and use it wet. It makes a nice mess but no dust in the air!

I use one of these, it's very good. I only use small resin parts but it should be OK for larger cuts
