I am in the Loire Valley - I heard 3 aeroplanes pretty high up, couldn't make them out with the naked eye , grabbed the camera and after enlarging images - discovered they were Piper L4 Grasshoppers . checking online , they were on their way to Normandy for this evening !

Some shots from my trip a few years ago - great statues and memorials there , lots of tanks on display year round on the streets and beaches .....as well as too many memorials to mention . It really is a must see experience .

Had this chap fly over twice today. Not sure if it's been doing the Biggin Hill to Dover tourist trip or taking part in the commemorations. Quite a sight in a blue sky on a sunny evening (n.b not my photo).

Been following @[B]bletchleypark[/B] all day on twitter , putting up the enigma intercepts as they happenned in 1944.
Some interesting info as to exactly what the germans transmitted back to central command.

I watched the D Day commemorations on TV. I listened to the stories the veterans told. Modest and so, so brave. I was moved to tears. We must never forget that the lives we live are thanks to their sacrifices.

Ian your post hasn't been forgotten.

I remember D-Day, VE Day, Battle of Britain Day and the most obvious Remembrance Day. I remember the sacrifices on both sides and never take for granted our freedoms that were paid for in blood, sweat and tears.

Seems they've forgotten your post Ian, but not me.
Typical many don't care to memorialize or indeed even recognize D DAY. Too many years of soft living and fretting over petty problems
have desensitized and demoralized us folks in the West.

i havnt forgotton, i am close to the Normandy Landings, Arnheim and the bomber war over Europe due to family connections, im ex military myself........i just choose the remember it in my own quiet way
