discussion Decal Paper help Please

Hi all,
I was just wondering how people use this, I'm asking as I tried it a while ago but after a few months the decals I had made came off. I know I should have used a coat of something over the model but didn't bother.
So what do you use to fix the decal onto the model if I don't want to lacquer it after?

spray over with an acrylic varnish
cut out and use like any normal decal

See I know how to use em and did as you say, but after a couple of months they dropped off, I don't want to varnish the model so need to know if theres something I can fix em on with

been a long time since i used decal paper but ive never had a problem.......are you putting them on a shiney surface?......wont take on a matt surface

Its a satin surface, would it work if I used a thin amount of the decal film liquid on the hull then applied the decals?

I had some think much like that happen,with old decal,and use a flat varnish ,pushed bach down the decal,
then just about dry,a couple of thing coats over the top,
