I recently purchased the Eduard F6F-3 early Hellcat 1:48 Profipack (well it is meant to be, but nothing actually says it is). It is moulded in the olive green trademark eduard sprues with 108 pieces on them, 17 parts on the clear parts, a large decal sheet, mask and 2x silver (nickel plated) photo etch frets. One of these frets is coloured (already painted). The rivet detail is simply superb and is up to the usual eduard standard. The cowling shape has been flawed with many kits, but eduard seems to have been the best so far according to my I first inspection and others opinions is that the cowling is the best shape in this scale to come with any Hellcat kit without resorting to Aftermarket. The decals are also printed by cartograf.

One of the negative points though, is that the wheels only permit the early version to be created. If the later versions is preferred to be built, Brassin wheels from eduard will have to be soured from them. Personally, in my opinion, it is the best Hellcat (F6F-3) in any scale at the moment apart from the disadvantage concerning the weels. You can find it at Eduard's online store. This is a 4 3/4 out of 5 rating If you want to buy it direct, see here- http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/F6F-3-1-48.html?cur=2&listtype=search&searchparam=F6F-3 1/48

The box is a little crushed in on the top, but the contents are all unopened and still on the sprue. Generally stuff you get at model show swap and sells are like this anyway. By the way, for a cheaper option for a F6F-3 1:48 Hellcat, look at hasegawa's one. It is not as detailed and as accurate, but it's cowling inaccuracies can be fixed with aftermarket from quickboost.

Looks a nice package.I like the way Eduard include masks and PE in their kits.Saves having to buy after market stuff to improve them.I've got the Profipack Spitfire mk9 in my stash.Hasegawa kits in the uk are expensive. So I would get the Eduard kit.

In this review, the actual kit says nothing about being a Profipack, yet it includes all the Profipack extras and the distinctive orange striped and nice artwork which distinguishes it from the other kits. Still do not know why it has no Profipack markings, yet it carries the markings of one. Maybe it was made when eduard had not made the idea of a Profipack?

Always look at model shows eg. Telford.... As they have many good stuff. Remember I got this one from a model show as well. They also were selling royal class editions.
