So I'm making my "Santa list" for my wife and alongside several kits (including pictures of said kits to avoid any confusion) I thought about s book detailing painting/modelling techniques but don't know if there are any decent ones out there.

Are there any books out there that you would say are "must have on your shelf" type books?

As I'm just coming back to the modelling way of life I'm not looking at airbrushing yet (give me 6 - 12 months and I'll probably be looking into that), looking for a "Scale Modellers Bible (or Qu'ran, Torah, etc) type book.

Don't know about books but my missis got me this DVD last xmas and it's fantastic, he does others also, hopefully i'll get one this year :)

AIRBRUSH PAINTING TECHNIQUES [DVD] [2007]: Amazon.co.uk: Bill Lucas: DVD

Drew these books are great to have:

The Encyclopedia of Modelmaking Techniques - Christopher Payne

How to Build dioramas - Sheperd Paine

Modeler's Guide to Realistic Painting & Finishing - Fine Scale Modeler

P.S. Just seen on your profile you're from Inverness area. Cool...i'm near to Elgin :)

I have to go with how to build dioramas by Shepard Paine this is my bible it is an out standing book, as it deals with weathering figure painting scratch building and of course building dioramas, verrrrrryyyy cool a must have i think.
