Faced with the problem of having to drill through several formers to install some control snakes, I devised the following tool-

First I procured a piece of brass tube and fixed a conventional drill in the end securing with thin cyno, then I placed a piece of piano wire down the centre of the tube, very unconventional but it worked really well,I just placed the extension drill into my power drill and carefully drilled through the bulkheads one by one,the plastic snake outer was then fed into the holes and locked into place with a few dabs of cyno as well.

I have used this drill on sevral occasions without any bother whatsoever.

done that myself aswell

execpt i didnt put wire in the brass tube cos it was to big for wire to fit in

i got a bit tube that fitted on the drill tightly and just pushed it on and gripped the tube in the chuck although the piano wire in smalled bits will give extra strenghth

also if you use something like welding rod- ( heavy duty like 3mm) and cut it with bolt cutters it creates a nice sharp edge, this can then be put in a drill chuck and used, but you do need to withdraw the rod from time to time to remove swarf.......
