Bit more done, got vehicles 'set in' many more layers to go, bit off a good chew with this one. Haven't received figures yet {coming via post} The real fun will start when I begin building trench system, been studying photos and basically know what I want to do. Just wanted to show the gist of it so far.........Stay tuned ................Jim:)View attachment 112782

You know, I never thought of that! It will have to be German since the Brits are attacking, oh well off to research German trench construction details. Thank you Monica, I might have made a major blunder and I know of someone who would have caught it:oops:...................Luv Jim;)

acouple of links to help you along Jim, ;)

think the main different was the shaping and the use of tin, wood and branches ,

hope this helps,

Thanks Monica, That's "Mama Cat" as we call her, the matriarch she is, her hunting days have been over for quite some time now, just spends her time lounging about, what a life!
Have you seen this of a cat as a passenger in a microlight?

Did a lot of looking around and it seems both sides used whatever was available in their particular areas, the Germans seemed to have the more sturdy and permanent systems, lots of timbers, logs, sandbags and dugouts also extensive wire entanglements which I will also try to encompass in the dio. This one will be very involved, almost wish I used a bigger board:rolleyes:

Hi Jim there's a documentation about an wwI trench excavation in belgium its called the big dig.

And this is a good one too

I think one of the main different was that the Germans use thin branches in there, that ran across way,was one thing that you could tell at a look was German, was that use of branches, ;)

Think I'll be going with the timbers instead of branches View attachment 112847

or maybe a combination of both, top layered in sandbags with wire in front

Great decision Jim, this would also be my choice.

Branches would be an option i you could make a mold of a small piece and reproduce it again and again, if you know what i mean.

Cheers Richi

Made RTV rubber molds years ago so I know of what you speak but to make branch bundles {for lack of a better word} I could use straw cut short, been thinking it out. Will also make dugout entrance opposite tanks..........;)Jim
