The F-13R is the dedicated reconnaissance version of the Aero S-106, the Czech licence-built MiG-21 F-13
The main differences are a lack of armament, covered rear canopy, altered pylons, and an experimental tactical camouflage scheme. '1013 was kept outside for thirty years and had deteriorated quite badly before being moved and prerserved
F-Toys are blind-box sets of particular aircraft, (this one from series 13, which included seven different MiG-21 F-13 and a clutch of A7 Crusaders), pre-painted but with decals to add (some of which are very shiny, but do eventually adhere, and do take varnish well! The roundels were replaced from Eduard. Other modifications were to the camo scheme (which didn't match up b etween the wings and fuselage!), the underwing pylons, the cockpit, and some small detail colouring undersideIMG_4183.webpIMG_4184.webpIMG_4185.webpIMG_4186.webpIMG_4187.webp

Strictly speaking, this wasn't part of the Blooming MiGs Everywhere GB, but alongside them

The most difficult thing, besides the decals and small details, was mixing up a sort of grey-violet for the tailfin, after I mistakenly painted in the dielectric panel there
And then saw the photo that showed it didn't have a green one there. Just as the kit!

How much is it cheating to upgrade a pre-painted snap-together kit? Y'know, I look at a couple of my pics, especially the slightly out-of-focus nose-on one, and even I begin to wonder what scale it is!
