Clarkeson is a breath of fresh air on TV , a real bloke who's not scared to tell it how he sees it , I'd say he's the most honest bloke on TV , can't wait to see him on another channel.

The BBC will bribe May and Hammond to keep the show going and if it's just those two I'll give the show a chance but if they replace clarkeson I won't bother , you can't replace him end off

Sadly, Mr Tymon, having worked on Top Gear is probably going to be out of work if the BEEB can't resurrect the show..........
............. There is one question I have to ask ??? ......and I don't believe, in all the coverage on this story anyone has asked .......... Was Oisin Tymon responsible for getting Jeremy's dinner or not ????? ..... :D

Peter
No it was Mike Tyson :D

What ever on the news Oisin Tymon was quoted as saying that since the incident it was for him and his family the worst time of his life.

That was after 30 minutes of being shouted at by Clarkson then 30 secs of aggression only stopped by others pulling Clarkson off Tymon. Seems the police have now woken up. Wow. They are investigating. Sure if it had been me I would have been down at Police Head Quarters within the hour.

Hopefully this will now happen. Nice scenario. Oisin Tymon to direct and produce a minute by minute film of the interview. To be released as the finale of the TopGear Series. Bet it would draw me. ;)

I had no idea he was getting paid this much (from Telegraph July 2013):

Mr Clarkson was paid £8.4million for his stake in a joint venture with BBC Worldwide which exploits Top Gear's global brand, on top of a £4.86million dividend payment. He was also paid £1million for his salary as a presenter.

His take home pay eclipses Jonathan Ross's £6million salary when he was at the corporation and Graham Norton's annual pay, which is thought to be around £4.5million.

Didn't like Clarkson, May is a bit of a prat, Hammond was ok. As has been said before you hit someone in the work place and you're out end of.

They'll still get paid for all the repeats on Dave so they won't miss out.

Time for the BBC to wipe the slate clean and start afresh with some new presenters, I think Chris Evans will be in the running but not sure who else....

I agree if you hit someone in the work place it's a sacking end of thing is top gear was those three any replacements would ruin it even if they just replaced JC , yes it was a car show but it was much more than that , the humour was a big draw to a lot of people me included im not bothered if the new farari has a split diff and rack and peanut steering with a bringbat motor sausage, I don't even know what these terms mean

End of an era I think

two ways of looking at it

financially i think the beeb has shot the golden goose

morally they have done the right thing

.............................................however when has morals been important to the bbc.............if clarkson had been a paedophile if would have been looked after and protected

got to admit TG is one of my fave programmes on the tv, certainly one of the funniest, but then im interested in cars since i am and have worked in the motor industry for the last 16 years

Big step for the BBC. Contrary to his carefully cultivated image, Clarkson was very much a BBC insider.

I had the dubious pleasure of working with him on live shows where he was much more outspoken than on broadcast TV. I found him to be an oaf, and his casual racism was deeply offensive. His justifications for this have echoes of Richard Keys and Andy Grays pathetic 'banter' defence. Sky dumped them, and rightly too.

At one show, sponsored by a Korean manufacturer, he never stopped belabouring 'jokes' about dog eating. In the presence of several Mercedes executives he maintained a school boy prattle about 'the war' almost all afternoon. It may or may not have been an act, but whatever it was, it was not to my taste. It wasn't to the production company's taste either and he was quietly dropped after two years. I may be in a minority, maybe 'jokes' about dog eating really are as funny as some (and it was by no means all) in the crowd found them.

I'd argue that Top Gear wasn't really a motoring show, it was a light entertainment show, based on the on screen personas of the three principle presenters. As such it is now gone. The BBC needs to decide whether it wants another entertainment show with some incidental and unaffordable cars, or a genuine motoring show.

Finally, if you assault someone in the work place physically and verbally, then you should face the consequences, whoever you are. I know what would happen to me if I pulled a stunt like that :)

Cheers

You are quiet right Alan, although it was a car show the vast majority of the audience were not watching to help decide which super car to buy next pay day, it was for the sheer entertainment they provided. Like Clarkson or hate him, he entertained. I for one will miss the show, I loved their childish behaviour, it was like watching Last of the Summer Wine on wheels.

Guy Martin is the man. OK boss.

His TV series have been far better than anything Clarkson cooked up.

His series renovating a barge were informative showed skill bit of science thrown in and at time just hilarious. Plus he is funny intelligent a mixer and down to earth. He will also have a go at anything. More importantly I have not heard him come out with anything derogatory.

I agree Steve, Top Gear was not a real Motoring show more like a show about 3 Prats! travelling the world & Playing with Expensive motor cars at the Licence Payers Expense.

John.

Going by Steve's experience, it rather seems to have been a case of In Vino Veritas, meaning that, after drinking, the real persona appears. Go to the pub, get slathered, and any normal brakes to behaviour no longer get applied (and, no, having witnessed similar results of over-indulgence, I'm not putting that up as a defence.)

For me, his books can be hilarious, and often more sharply pertinent than they are credited, but Top Gear was totally irrelevant, since my car is a means to get from A to B, and nothing more, so I rarely watched it (Cameron Diaz participating, though, and all bets are off.)

I think Steve's info has illuminated the person that is J. Clarkson. I found him childish and his comments silly, but entertaining, sort of 'bad-boy' image. But from what Steve has commented we only see a diluted occasional idiot side, but it seems to go further than that-almost like he enjoys bating people with juvenile antics. Shame on him and a shame that this has happened-TG was the only reason I watched TV-I know it was a entertainment-but that is what I liked about it-three idiots messing about-again he had to take it too far.

Si:)

The thing is even if he is like that then it doesn't mean he's a bad bloke , none of us know the real jeramy clarkeson, problem with today is ideology and all ideology is fascist and the side is evil ,

I believe you can't judge a person on what they say or what they think you can only judge them on what they do

I agree with you completely. You can't judge a person by their public persona, or act if that's what it is. I found aspects of that act distasteful, but he was nonetheless a popular BBC entertainer which means I may not be in a majority :)

Bernard 'there were no Pakis at Dunkirk' Manning was inexplicably popular as well as being ignorant of history.

You can judge someone by his or her actions and assaulting someone in the workplace, or bullying, is, in my judgement and evidently the BBC's, not acceptable. I think that the BBC should receive some credit for making a hard decision.

Cheers

I agree Steve about the stuff that went on well what little we have been told and May and Hammond didn't think there was that much to it from what I've seen them say on TV , all I will say is clarkeson has never been overly offensive on screen but he's been made to look that way ,

I personally think that clarkeson was the most persecuted person TV quite simply because he wasn't PC

The guy suffered a bloody lip hardly life threatening we don't know the exact details of exactly how this happened from a scuffle or a punch maybe a slap who knows.Whose to say that this little spat they had might have being brewing for a while and that the "victim " might have actually caused the incident to make a name for himself off the back of Clarkson. We shouldn't judge people on assumption without knowing all the facts it's obvious from previous posts Clarksons like marmite people either love him or hate him I personally thought he was a great entertainer and he will be missed by thousands home and abroad. In my humble opinion it's been blown out of all proportion and people are to quick to jump on his back but I'm sure he will rise like a Phoenix from the flames and his career is far from over.I look forward to his next presenting programme and I assume that the next series of top gear will be totally pants. Nanny state rules again 20 -30 years ago they would have shook hands and gone for a pint together. The director at the BBC had to be seen to do the "right" thing and sack him.Chris Evans name as been mentioned as a replacement and to his credit he said no and that the presenters were the best ones that they could ever be.i totally agree.
