how can I repair the upper rear arm on this model, as I can not get the rest of the arm off the engine
 
you can try tamiya epoxy putty or milliput. i fixed one of my 1/10 figure's bow (missing part of the bow) with tamiya epoxy putty
 
Spare sprue cut to length and sanded? I wouldn't bin it. There are many options
