What do you think the fastest remote controlled vehicle is? It can be anything from a car to a yacht. Give car name top speed and pics?

No doubt about it...a radio controlled glider ! Sorry dont have details but it surprised me that it wasn`t a rocket, gas-turbine or pulse-jet device. It was taken up somehow (possibly a balloon) to a tremedous height and dived before going through the timing traps staight and level. Maybe somebody can fill in the rest. :dontknow:

There were two Austrian brothers who flew a glider in the Alps at about 300 mph. They climbed to 1500 ft by a combination of slope and thermal lift and dived at 45deg, they then had a maximum of 30 mins to gain height before the reverse run. I am sure that someone has gone faster since though, again with a glider.

This one has got to be a good contender,

Click on the link and download the video and watch !!! (2.91mb)

http://media.ebaumsworld.com/index.php?e=fastboat.wmv

Boat doesn't do much at first but then watch it fly...!!!

Basically they are illegally testing it on a duckpond...and yes it gets up to 183mph !!! as you will hear on the video

Regards........Mark.

I recall seeing in a mag (AMI?) some guys in the UK building a model looking like a FD.2 (without a canopy) for a record attempt. Don't know how it went.

there all really cool, i like the vid on the boat! you can just hear the power as it fly's by.

I am looking for the fastest model of r/c vehicles so i can build/buy one to have as my own. I look at the giga crusher, does anyone know anything about it???

the giga crusher does not qualify as one of the fastest rc vehicles, there are electric cars that will out run and out handle it ! :anicam:

Check this out:http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=369142&page=2&pp=15Josh, as you seem to be a noobie, I think, if you want something that fast, you had better get a reality check check first!!(Up until your last post I was taking the request as a genuine enquiry for information)
No, it is just a general enquiry, i just want to know what rc models are about nowadays. I just brought that up because i like the look of it.

Hi joshleafe, one of the early Nieuports is what you're looking for if you want speed, providing you fly it when the clouds are moving reeeeeally slowly! (It's all relative after all?)

Steve.

Cool, do you have any pictures or links???

I saw a video on the internet a few months ago (though I can't remember where now..) where they rigged up an R/C car on a wire, similar to the technique for wire-guided R/C planes, and had it run round in a circle, held by the wire. They got over 200mph (though, again, as it was a few months ago I can't rememeber exacly how fast).

At the risk of giving my age away (again !) RTP (round the pole ) powered car models were all the rage in the post-WW11 era (no pun intended, ERA !). RTP hydroplane racing is still going on in the UK. Both fast but not in the same league as the 4 ft. span R/C glider-from-the-baloon folk. Their speed was well above 400mph from 80,000 feet altitutde. Dont know details of radio but suspect it would be similar to industrial standard stuff, GPS and high-power tracking systems etc. Might have been a university team.

Im new too i know, but have raced quite a few fast rc craft from planes to cars and i can quantee that if you get some silly fast rc truck or car, within its second run it will be in thousands pieces and you wont be very happy :-(

Why not start with a small electric one, and then slowly "do it up" or "pimp" it over time, that way you will learn the basics and still have fun! Remmber the people who build these sort of extreme craft have been doing it for years!

i think some of the tethered hydros can travel at pretty high speeds too, and then there is flash steam models .....

Theres the rocket-launched R/C gliders that Estes make. They must reach a fair speed on takeoff.
