I was writing out a card for my dad the other day and just as I was putting it in the envelope I noticed some writing on the back of the card. I took the card back out and it read thus, "This card is not a toy. Not suitable for children under 36 months old." How many three year old fathers do they think are out there?? I know - elf and safety an' all.

Then my daughter approached me.

"Dad, you know that £10 I owe you?"

"Yes..."

"Can I use it for your Father's Day present?"

Hopefully, I can put it towards a kit by adding my own money to my own money.

Nice one Keith, you have taught her well. Remember, its the thought that counts

It would seem you missed a trick there Keith! Me an' the missus convinced my daughters that 'Oxfam' was a designer label until they were in their teens! That more than made up for the "Dad, can I borrow ......?" occasions.

She does voluntary work for the PDSA, Gern. I sometimes think her life's work is to bring the entire contents of the shop back home, bit by bit. In the past I have had a Revell 1/72 Spitfire, a round photo frame to mount my models and the latest gift - a DVD of The Battle of Britain, The Fight for the Sky, still in its cellophane wrapper. It cost £1!

Up until an hour or two ago I would have agreed with you Gern. However, she's just bought a decorative photo frame for a friend's birthday. Having examined it, it turns out to be one the missus donated to the PSDA recently!
