I don’t visit or post as much as I did. I just don’t find it user friendly any more. I really don’t get on with this one.

Whatever is best for the forum going forward, I must admit the old forum was like a comfy pair of slippers for me while the new one has always rubbed my heels a bit 
I've got there eventually though. I've no objection to getting the old pair back out

I used to post regularly on the old forum format with my phone or iPad because it was the simplest and quickest way for me.
Since the forum change I’ve barely posted anything about my builds or contributed to any discussion as I just find the current format too difficult.
Whenever I have dropped in it seemed to me a lot of familiar names have drifted away.
The last change provoked an outburst of emotions and upset for some and while I won’t lament a change away from this format I’m wary that any more change might prompt some members to move on. But will it entice new or returning members?
What I do hope that doesn’t change is the ability to post photos directly without the need for a photo hosting site; the light touch of the moderators (a certain other site has some very high handed methods of speaking to members); and the respect that members have for one another.
Whichever way John wants to take the forum it will always be with my best wishes.

For me thats the one massive bonus of this platform...... Makes life so much easier

I did find it 'awkward' to use the current format to start with and did drop away from here for a while, but to be honest I found another forum for modelling, It was ok for a while but I did find it was very condecending towards newer members, and I got bored of the general 'your not one of us so we'll speak to you like your an idiot' attitude from established members on there..
Sooo long story short I wandered back here and tried again..and I'm glad that I did.. this place really is the one place that feels like home.
So John, If you do fancy 'modifying' the software then crack on mate...just please don't let all the historic builds already on here get deleted, or the pictures get minimised...

WELL i was on the old site fore about 5yrs an it was the best an funnyiest forum to be on untill the change so i say yes lets go back to the old site as i had difficulty understanding this new forum but i can work it now but like mick said i like the old slippers best

You don't need to use a photo hosting site, you can upload them as with the previous software

I don't know why I did't think of this ages ago, I have restored the last backup of the old forum so you can view all the old threads, pictures etc, you can login but can't post ( I don't think) when we migrate the forum if the guy can't get the old picures back then this will be an alternatve

The guy that is migrating the forum to XF said he can do it this week, I'm not sure what day or time, I thnk he's from the USA so it might be done while we sleep, he has all the info needed to do it, he will turn the forum off until it's done
Hopefully all will go smoothly

...At the moment old pics are still small, but I guess that's a lot of extra work - perhaps planned for the future. Cheers
