discussion First Airbrush Purchase

I recently bought my first Airbrush ever- the Iwata neo CN. I bought this out of the favourable reports and the not so pricey cost. Additionally, I bought the replacement needle. Any thoughts on this Airbrush??????

Hi John, nice to see you back on the forum. Airbrushing eh? Nice one. I am still rather new to AB myself and have had to knock it on the head due to nowhere to do it at the moment.

The Iwata Neo CN is a nice brush though, two cup sizes, although I would stick with the smaller one, easier to manage paint and you can top up if needed. One issue, that is apparent on most other brands, is the nozzle can be overtightened and cause the 'o'-ring to squash meaning the centering can be off slightly and cause issues. If this does happen try using the larger BCN nozzle.

It is nice to use and doesn't clog too much and is easy to clean with a good supply of parts so no issues there. It is a nice good quality brush for the money and should give you hours of trouble free spraying.

Thanks for the reply. And yes, I am back on the forum. Do you own this airbrush as well? I also bought an airbrush compressor with the gauge and all those stuff necessary for airbrushing. Additionally, I bought a spare needle due to warnings I have read on books and the net... I am still waiting for this to arrive from the US. Do I have to get a quick release adaptor as well?

I don't own this brush, but I have used one-it is a friends of mine and I borrowed it for a while and found it a good quality item and noted the issues.

As for the quick release, they are a good idea, here are the reasons: You can run multiple airbrushes. If, for some reason, the trigger jams you can disconnect the air flow quickly. It prevents hose tangle when unscrewing the hose- no more unscrewing and winding the hose up. Also prevents thread wear on the airbrush coupling and hose.

Yes I would add Si that I have found after completeing a session you can take the airbrush to the sink for a good clean.

Yay! The neo for Iwata AB turned up yesterday. Great trigger action and nice box. Very nice AB which is new for $78 Australian dollars. I took the main components of it part and reassembled it apart from the nozzle and the air hose connection. Also the compressor, lube and spare needle turned up as well.

hi John, it should come with one , I sat and looked at my for over 3 mths before i try ed it did not have things right and it went sideways on me

and please listen to what the lads say as they got me sorted, with all there advice and help, and made things alot easy for me,second try today

Another thing you need to be careful of is what you spray through it.It will be fine with acrylics and possibly enamels.But if you use cellulose/Laquer based paints and thinners they could damage the 'O'ring seals in your airbrush.
