I bought these two Airfix "WW2 Airfield kits" when i was recovering from illness last year, for most of the time i was too unwell to get out and about doing what i normally do, and there's only so much daytime telly anyone can suffer.:damnit:

So i thought i'd buy a kit to keep my busy, i haven't built model kits since i was a kid and then they were never painted, usually aeroplanes which were hung from the ceiling. I bought the two kits with the idea of making them to the best of my ability to see how they would turn out, i soon realised i needed help and came running here where i found some tips and hints to help my progress. Well, i finished them yesterday, they look ok from a distance.:emo: Searching through the forum, especially for Diorama's unearthed some truly outstanding work and i'm a bit embarrased now to post pictures of my VERY amateur attempt. I know everyone has to start somewhere and it's not anyone on here who makes me feel embarrased with my work. Anyway, here goes...

Hi Paul, these look great, be careful you'll get the model bug, it gets you real bad, you got talent.

The models and composition are great and you're right, everyone does have to start somewhere, that is a great start

Never feel embarrassed to show your photos, we all love to see pics of what people are up to and it's what you get out of your modelling that counts

Hi Paul two very nice builds there like Andy says you have to start somewhere and it looks like you have hit the floor running. so whats next ?

Thanks everyone!

I'm doing great thankyou, i should have started off with a few words about my experience with cancer last year... when i joined the forum it was shortly after getting out of hospital for having the bowel cancer tumour removed, since then i had further Chemotherapy from September up until christmas, then last month i had the Ileostomy bag reversed and i'm currently recovering from that and awaiting a CT acan at the end of April. The future looks good and pending the scan i should be fit and ready to return to work around June.

What's next model wise? I still have the two Revell tanks, an Airfix "Memorial flight" and a Revell Merc touring car that my sister bought me for christmas....

I agree with all the above paul, I assume these are 1/72 which in itself is not the easiest of scales to work with. I particularly like your paint work on the Bf 109. Well done mate

First attempt at painting? well they're pretty dam good in my opinion.

I think a lot of forum members would say that they're better than their "first attempts" if asked.

And to be honest, looking at those pictures, they look better painted than i produce now :)

Hi paul , fantastic job , as steve says the paint job on the 109 is great . Glad to hear youre on the mend , and also glad youre enjoying the modelling again! Looking forward to the BOB memorial build , cheers tony

Wow Paul.

If you can do this recovering what are you going to do when you are top notch. Hope you are now A OK & continue producing this stuff.

I have been painting models for years & never been that good. Don't be embarrassed because its excellent, I especially like the German plane (I'm not very good with planes so i don't know its name)

Hello Paul, welcome to the 'Friendly Forum' and all the best for your recovery.

That is one cracking first go diorama, in fact it's a cracker anyway.

I can't add more than the lads have written, except join in and have fun.

Cheers,

Ron

I must have missed this before it got bumped up again. I second what the others have said. Good to hear that you are on the mend and well done with those models. I can assure you that they are waaaay better than my first efforts!

Cheers

Steve
