Some of you might remember a few weeks back I went to a model meet and I totally bottled it with not showing my builds off but tonight I figured what the hell if they think I'm rubbish I'll just not bother but I needn't of worried I showed my Baders Hurry, Gallands 109 and rommels 250/1 and I must say they when down a treat with the guys and we're especially taken with the 109 once I told them it was a day build and wanted to know how I did it so I was pleased about that.

I took the hurry to find out about the colour scheme I had used just to show that I wanted to learn and get them engaged in conversation I know I could of asked on here but with more people there tonight I felt it might break the ice a bit

I was amazed though that out of the ten guys who were there only two of them used an AB although from seeing there builds you would never have guessed

I also plugged this place and told them what a great bunch we have on here :)

YEAH! Superb Alan, we all kept telling you that your stuff is great and now you know that others apart from the members on here like them too... :D

Seriously, nice one mate glad all went okay.

Si:)

Is it worth me going to meets to learn and appreciate what to do? X

Cheers mate it was good to get a proper visual aspect from people who build models , sometimes photos can hide a lot so it was good to get appreciation from that perspective :)

Nice one Alan! Always good to meet like minded souls in the flesh ;)

I'd better get along to my local club now!

It would be worthwhile Emma, as long as you're prepared for it being like Penny visiting the comic book store ;)

Well Alan I am off to my first tomorrow Ipms at Witham I too will be taking models but will mention them in the boot of the car and see if they are interested the person who invited me said to take a wip and a finished one so I thought Christine for the wip and military show room or Stephensons rocket as was and is as the finished not decided which of those 2 yet

It all depends on what sort of people you get , I've been lucky as the people at this meet and on here are good people who will give you help through constructive means but there are quite a few elitists out there who will criticise just for the sake of feeling superior to you and put you down instead of helping but you've got this place now and I'm being honest when I say that the people on here know there stuff and are always more than eager to help out :)

I was a newbie when I joined and they helped me improve immensely :)

I would get some builds under your belt first, get some cheap kits-something that interests you, and then get them posted up here, folk will be honest (without being cruel) and you can tweak your skills accordingly. Once you have mastered the basics then by all means join a club and share. One reason I say this is that some clubs may freeze you out as you know nothing, offer nothing-not all club members are like this but it does happen. Get some practise first-this also means you can show them you efforts and have a talking point to go from.

Si:)

Ken I'm sure what ever you take will be great especially that Christine one :)

My grandad always told me "don't let the bastards grind you down" I hate people that think they are elite. Usually they are more afraid of failure than most and farther blow your candle out to make there's shine brighter x

Don't forget all us now :P
Pfft I'll never forget this place you lot got me where I am today and besides now I'm a member of a club I get into my local show for nothing :P

Yes honestly Emma I am relatively new here and have had nothing but encouragement from all but I have been building models(scratch built ships mostly) for years only got back into plastic Christmas time, but I am still nervous about my first meet tomorrow, so I agree with Si get some builds under your belt first and anyone who is derogatory to your builds is not someone to be listened to.

Go Alan go! Well done mate

Lee :)

cool Alan so glad it went well for you :D

and it is nice to have some were to go and chat about modeling , happy for you and see we were right lol, :)

i have a little shop called Eureka Miniatures close to me were i buy my paint from, and go in once ever other

Your moni it's ok when friends and family say you've done a good job but it's better when you talk to people who share the same interest not that I don't value every other ones opinion of course:)
